Overview
My role is mainly project work. I have multiple projects on the go at one time. I am doing projects related to setting up the new factory. This involves coordinating materials to be used for tests for the New Factory Engineers; creating new replenishment processes for the new factory so that we update the processes we currently have so they are streamlined and efficient. I also have projects closely linked with other cross functional teams including Process Engineers, Strategic Procurement, the wider Logistics team, and R&D.
Skills
I have been continuously developing communication skills - I present regularly to my team, and the process engineers to keep them updated on all progress and changes. I run meetings on my own, I rely on the relationships I have with the factory shop floor to work with them to help with certain projects I have developed my commercial awareness skills. I have a much better understanding of how international companies run, the correct processes to follow and also understanding what different departments find valuable and how to ensure they see that from your project. I have also developed my teamworking skills, confidence and innovation skills
Responsibilities
Yes, I am responsible for multiple projects, which the work done for will be used long after I leave. I hold meetings with other teams who rely on me for helping with the projects and working to deadlines, at a high level.
Support & Guidance
Lots of guidance. I have a line manager and a supervisor who helps me when i need it. My team is very supportive and willing to help me and teach me new skills. It was clear I wasn't expecting to know anything when I started. I was willing to learn and there were multiple opportunities to do this
Culture
Positive, no blame culture; win together; learn passionately, owning your work - successes and failures. Everyone is supportive of everyone and wants everyone to succeed and do well - really nice environment to work in
Your Impressions
I have very much enjoyed my internship. I have learnt so much. I have worked on so many projects. I have worked with experts in the field. I have been working on projects in a field I never thought I would be successful in, but have achieved good pieces of work. I have made lots of friends with colleagues. The internship pool here is large and there are 24 other interns who I also share this experience with
Yes
If you are willing to learn, resilient and determined then you will succeed here. I have never been more convinced that knowledge can be taught but a positive attitude is essential
