Overview
We bring a focus on the customer within the business, we bring the voice of the customer to different processes within the business and make sure that decisions are being made that are of the best interest to our customers. The day-to-day role can change month by month depending on the different processes that we are involved with during that time but typically there's an aspect of project management, product/ services reviews and more.
Skills
I have learnt new skills such as marking up documents, producing training documents, speaking to external and internal colleagues, producing slide decks. I have developed existing skills such as project management, presenting, collaborating with others and time/ resource management.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement and treated as another member of the team. I was in charge of certain areas of the projects we were working on and was responsible with liaising with external and internal colleagues in order to keep the project going. In terms of the wider business I had the opportunity to join one of our employee resource groups in which I was given a lot of responsibility to improve our DEI focus within the whole organisation.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of guidance within my team and the wider business. I was always encouraged to ask questions to make sure I was getting the most out of my placement. Also everyone in the business was very open to providing an overview of their business area and I was actively encouraged to reach out to different teams if I was interested in their business area. My team supported me in my day-to-day role but also encouraged me to go and make a bigger business wide impact.
Culture
The company culture is very supportive and approachable. Everyone is very friendly and didn't make you feel like you were just an undergraduate but a valued member of the team and the wider business.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement, I felt like I have grown as a person but I also know what I want to do after I finish university. I have really enjoyed the opportunities that my placement have brought me and have enjoyed learning new skills. My placement has given me the opportunity to work on my own personal development and make sure I have reached the targets I set myself at the start of the placement.
Yes
Make the most of the opportunities that are available to you as an undergraduate. Be true to yourself and don't be afraid to show your personality as that is what they are looking for in interviews/ assessment centres.
