Overview
I spent 6 months with fleet end of contract, and spent everyday for 6 months doing the exact same thing - terminating contracts, generating purchase prices, arranging collections and charging fees to customers when their collection did not meet critera. I then spent the following 6 months with fleet purchasing - ordering customer vehicles with nominated dealers, amending orders accordingly and dealing with customer queries. I have got to experience some monthly and weekly reporting on excel too, however this was not in my job description
Skills
I wouldnt say i have hugely developed many skills. In terms of hard skills, i have definitely developed my ability to use software and excel. However, in terms of soft skills i really feel they have not developed. Prior to joining VWFS i had a good level of communication, time management, team work, being proactive and being resillient due to what i learnt through previous jobs. However, due to the repetitive nature of the role i found it very hard to be pushed out of my comfort zone to really learn more about how i could develop these skills.
Responsibilities
No. I was initially given an account to manage in which i had to arrange all the collections of this large fleet, however, this was soon taken over by a team member who had been here longer with more experience of the automative industry. I have recently been given some excel reports to complete, but i have only been given those within the last 3 months of placement
Support & Guidance
within the first 6 months hardly any. I was isolated a lot by my team in which they would ignore any questions i had as a new comer, and when i asked my manager for additional training to minimise knowledge gaps this was ignored. However, in the last 6 months with the purchasing team and different manager i have had immense support from every team member, both my seniors and manager
Culture
It varied across teams, i felt like it was very cliquey in some teams, with some team members not willing to help or answer questions, however other teams were really inclusive and wanted to help
Your Impressions
For the first 6 months i really did not enjoy my placement and found it hard to get up each day knowing i had to do the same thing and work alongside a team who werent supportive or collaborative initially. When i was moved teams, my morale improved hugely and i started to like it more. However, overall i did not enjoy it
