Overview
First two days included a lot of insight about finance, including talk about forex, bonds and bank statements. The third day was a lot more involved in tech, talking about UI/UX and AI in the business. There was a lot of networking with grads, HR, and a lot of 西瓜视频s that were part of different divisions such as OA, FIC and CB, which allowed us to connect with other disciplines outside of TDI
Skills
I learnt a lot about finance, especially about different bank statements and how debt and equity work.
Business Insight
It was extremely interesting and informative. I got insight into how each role operated as well as how they communicate with each other. For example, how investment bankers link with Software Engineers
Culture
Absolutely amazing. Everyone was super friendly and open to answer any questions. However, there was still professionalism as well as transparency about roles and tasks that have to be done in the bank, which I really liked as it gave me a good idea of what I would want to do if I were to receive a summer or graduate placement later on in my career
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. It鈥檚 a very good experience to be able to network with multiple people across the industry, as well as gain an insight into what they do in their day to day lives. I also liked how even though I was specifically in the technology sector (TDI), I still had an opportunity to learn about finance and other sides of the bank.
Yes
For technology specifically, make sure you know what you want to do relating to programming. This is because in a bank, programs and technology are highly regulated, meaning that you may not get a lot of freedom with what you want to implement or create. However, you still work on a lot of projects that make a lot of impact, so if you don鈥檛 mind the strictness, it鈥檚 still a great place to program.
