Overview
I help with authoring legislative reports for the UK and use different methods to increase colleague engagement around sustainability within the business. I am in charge of ensuring that the Terracycle waste stream remains available to colleagues at all times and was involved in the changes needed for all UK sites following the Simpler Recycling legislation in March 2025.
Skills
I have learnt and developed a huge number of different skills, both new and existing. Communication has been a big one as it is an essential skill in all aspects of the placement, from emails to meetings to networking. Collaboration and team work has also been a skill that I have refined throughout my placement through projects and getting the best outcome out of a task that incudes more than just me.
Responsibilities
I was given enough responsibility to feel pushed and slightly out of my comfort zone, but I was always adequately supported through these tasks. I had a good amount of responsibility and was treated as a full time employee, but always had a good system of support within the workplace.
Support & Guidance
I received a large amount of support and guidance throughout my placement, but never felt like it was too much. I had weekly catch ups with my manager to go over anything that I needed to talk about and to assess my progress in areas that I wanted to develop in.
Culture
The company culture is all about equity and joy and this was definitely reflected by my colleagues. Everyone was incredibly welcoming and kind in all aspects of my work. The atmosphere is generally positive and I found myself looking forward to working in the office.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement. It has been such an amazing opportunity and I have enjoyed nearly every aspect of my year. I have met so many incredible people and feel much more equipped to enter the working world after finishing my degree.

I know that everyone says this but truly be yourself and try to relax in the recruitment process. Try your best to try new things and embrace the opportunities that are offered to you as there are so many!
