    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The 2 week insight programme was extremely enjoyable. Meeting various 西瓜视频s from all over the country was great. It felt like we where very much in this together. The first week was really just a training week, whilst the second week was spent in a school. The second week was much more interesting

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • The first week was very formulaic and due to the number of other 西瓜视频s it often felt like you was drowned out by the more confident participants. In addition during the first week often felt quite corporate. The second week was much better, I felt like a valued member of the teaching team

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The first week gave us good basic tools for teaching but much of the week was aimed at getting people to sign up for the LDP. I felt like more time should have been given for lesson prep. In the second week the host school gave us lots of support.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The talks in the first week told me about the role of teachers and really changed my perspective on teaching. I have gained confidence and organisation skills as a result of both the first and second weeks. These will likely help in my degree and my career as a teacher

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Both the weeks where very well structured generally. There where a couple of questionable timings (having to get across London at rush hour for our final day assessment) but generally the week was laid out well. I would have preferred longer in the school however since the second week was much more useful

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The program leads tried to keep it interesting but the first week dragged. Th hosts did however make hours of lectures relatively interesting so credit can be given there. At the school every hour was different and meant that the week flew by and was very enjoyable. Generally people seemed to also enjoy the programme

    2/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The whole 2 week programme seemed to have 2 aims to get us to sign up for the LDP and to improve our skills and personal development to help us teach. Lots of time was put aside for self reflection and the leaders seemed to want us to succeed. More leadership development is needed in the first week though

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • In addition to speaking to ex-teach first people in the first week, I got to speak with current LDP participants at my placement school. They gave me a unfiltered honest opinion on the program. While what they said wasn't always positive it persuaded me that the leadership development program is for me.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I was shocked to see the amount of people who left the programme after the 2 years since everyone running the programme seemed to have left teaching. It does make sense however since as the programme was mid week we couldn't meet current teachers (they where teaching!) I was shocked at how they shut don negative questions about TF in the first week

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Extreamly helpful by the end of the program. Before the program I wasn't sure on teaching but by the end of the first week I was sure I didn't want to teach as a wgol week of talks put me off it. The second week completely changed that however. The hands on experience teaching persuaded me this is what I wanted to do.

    5/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was paid 拢250 a week. In addition Teach first paid for my transport from my home own to London and then to my placement school (Birmingham). Any taxi buses and tubes I used can also be reimbursed. Food expenses where unfortunately not paid for but due to the other repayments this is very reasonable

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • While the first week allowed us to meet many ex-Teach first participants and ask them questions directly we where only able to ask current participants questions in the second week. I understand the current TF participants are teaching so cannot come speak to us but talking to them early may have helped dispel andy problems I had with the program

    2/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There were lots of points throughout the first week to chat with other participants. The event hosts even arranged for tables to be booked in local bars so we could socialise after the days talks where over. In the second week we had lots of time to talk with the others and where given the whole weekend off to explore the local area

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We was told about events which happen during the large summer breaks but they never really explain what they are. We where told about the "teach first community" too, the TF teachers at the school said she lives with other TF teachers and they do stuff outside of work with other teach first participants.

    1/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would recommend as this programme helps with many transferable skills as well as setting up those who wish to teach with the skills needed to do this. Skills gained aside I found that my understanding of education and the problems faced by 西瓜视频s from low income backgrounds rose and helps me develop personally

    5/5
