About You
It was a great insight for someone that hasnt had much insight into the world of finance. I learnt a lot during the 2 weeks both regarding the world of finance and what each job entails.
After the desk rotations we were allowed to go follow up with the employers and I felt very privileged to have the opportunity to do this seeing as they are really busy and working.
We received a lot of training in the first 2 days regarding the firm and the division itself. I then received a lot of guidance from my buddies who have been so helpful regarding how to go about with the insight as well as pointers for stock pitches and interviews we've had.
The information will be relevant with regards to some modules I could go on to take. The skills regarding research, presenting with the stock pitches and networking will be super useful.
The Company
It was very structured, giving us time to understand the firm and division and each desk through the desk rotations and training and talks we've had. We had the right amount of free time to go see the employees too.
Atmosphere was very enjoyable. The people on the trading floor gave a great vibe and felt part of it all. We had free time but generally made sure to fill those up and was very busy but fun.
With the two first days dedicated to us understanding the firm, division and other parts of the business it was a great insight into the world of work
How busy our schedules were and the opportunities we had of talking to other employees, attending their meetings and coming in/leaving at the same time, made it very realistic.
How important the buddy/mentor scheme is to the company really showed and having the PMD Fireside chats talking to them emphasised the culture that they have here and how important it is.
The desk rotations gave me a better understanding of which desks I would enjoy more than others. Got an insight in both sales, trading and structuring too which was something I wouldn't expect.
Everything Else
I was paid for the two weeks and was reimbursed with my travel expenses too
We had several networking sessions where we met other employees and were able to follow up on them.
They included employers from analysts to MDs, so was an amazing opportunity.
The fitness centre in the company as well as outreach projects that people put their time and effort into
Was an amazing experience and such an amazing opportunity to have gotten.
