About You
The Spring Insight week was a really enjoyable experience with a huge breadth and variety in the work we were doing and experience we were gaining.
I felt that all the employees in my division had a lot of time to give despite their busy work schedules, and were always happy to offer 30 minutes for a coffee chat to tell you more about what they do and their team.
The HCM team were very supporting over the experience. I was also assigned a buddy, but received less support in this direction as they were very busy.
I felt the whole experience was extremely beneficial in terms of building my working skills, as well as expanding my financial knowledge. I genuinely felt I developed a huge amount as a person through the experience.
The Company
The insight weeks were well structured, as they gave you responsibility to control your own time, but also regular events and workshops to build skills and give good exposure to different people in the division.
The general atmosphere was really dynamic, and both the employees and other interns were lovely.
We attended several workshops and sessions that were in place for us to build skills and learn. These were all highly interactive, and I felt I learnt huge amounts over the experience.
We were assigned a desk and team on the third day of the program. This meant we got a feel as to what it would be like working full-time at the firm.
Across the two weeks I met with over 15 employees one on one. This gave me a clear insight into the culture of the people, and the culture was also transparent within the office.
Highly valuable. I enjoyed the experience so much, that it made me very clear in wanting to explore career options at GS.
Everything Else
We were paid more than adequately for the experience. I think the compensation was fair for the work we completed.
We had full flexibility to network and meet employees during any desk time that we had schedules. I met over 15 employees one on one for coffee over the two weeks.
The networking events within the program were super useful, as they allowed you to explore beyond your team, but also meet with other interns.
We attended several talks about the networks within GS, and these networks also had events for us to attend. We were also permitted to visit the fitness centre, however this is something I sadly didn't have time for.
I would more than recommend the insight weeks to a friend.
