About You
The insight was very informative, and was relatively fun. We has a few really enjoyable talks and panels, and made me think about things differently. We got to work with so many different people. from different background and with different expertise, which was eye opening, and led to me learn a lot.
I felt as though i was pretty values. Obviously as a spring intern, there isn't much I could actually add that was of value. However, everyone made us feel like what we were doing was worth while, and made sure we felt comfortable, and understood everything we needed to understand for our project.
I received a lot of guidance and support, mainly, we got assigned buddies that were always there if we needed them. They helped us and made sure they were available whenever we had any questions. Overall, we had a good support system that ensured we always had someone to talk to.
My degree is almost completely unrelated to technology and computer science, however, i learned A LOT, both about computer science, and about working in a bank environment. It was insightful, and I was assured throughout the whole program that even though I had no programming experience, everyone would make sure I was trained when I needed it.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. We had four separate work shadowing sessions, one with a different team. We had programming sessions, panels, and spotlight sessions. Everything was scheduled very well, while also allowing us some time to work on our group projects and meet different teams throughout our internship.
The atmosphere was intense, but also a lot of fum. It made us feel like we really were employees. with the same type of time pressure that full time employees experience. It was also a lot of fun cause we got to work with a team for many hours a day, and we all got to know each other and became good friends.
Since this was a spring internship, there was not enough time for us to get a lot of training. However, we got programming training, as well as a couple of HackerRank training sessions. Additionally, we got presentation training, which was useful for our group presentation at the end of the program.
The insight taught me a lot about how it would feel like if I were a full time employee at Goldman Sachs, we got to shadow different teams to see what its like to be working with that specific team, and we had a few panels were we got to ask current employees about their experience.
Everything Else
There were so so many opportunities to network. IN fact we were advised almost daily to take the opportunity and meet and network with as many people as possible. We had panels, firm wide events, and a social where we got to meet people and network. W e also got to meet a lot of people as a result of our group project.
We got a whole talk about the opportunity to join an employee affinity network. There were so many different networks that employees can work on. We also were told about the meditation sessions that employees can join to help them cope with the stress of work and relax for a few minutes.
