About You
I really enjoyed the insight week, it gave me a great insight into what it is like to work here and how the company works as a whole. I also met lots of people and found out what kind of projects I can get involved in here at Goldman Sachs. It was also fun living in central london.
I felt valued, there were many events held for us, we were always thanked for our time and also, they made us feel really appreciated and would always congratulate us for getting onto the program. We were also exposed to as much of the business as much as possible and given so many different opportunities.
I was given lots of guidance and support. The recruiters were all really nice and they were super supportive. They even let me attend other sessions from other divisions just to get a taste of what it would be like to work in different areas of the business which I really enjoyed.
I actually learnt a lot of new skills as I came from a mechanical engineering background rather than a computer science background. I feel as though the skills I have learnt will come in useful for my final project as I have been provided with further knowledge I can implement that other 西瓜视频s on my course might not have. I also developed my communication skills when we worked as a team and worked on our presentations so that will be super useful.
The Company
The insight week was structured really well. There was lots of activities planned for us as well as enough free time to work on our group projects, research, network and meet other people who work at goldman sachs. I felt really welcomed when I first joined and again, sessions are well planned throughout the 2 weeks to give us a great taster. The first week was more busy as we had more sessions but the second week was less busy as we had more time to work on our projects and put together our presentations.
The atmosphere was really nice and positive and I had a really nice time. Everyone was welcoming, the people were friendly, I met so many new interns from all over the world and of different backgrounds so it was great. London is also a lovely place to work in so that was a great experience to be working here
The company invested so much time and effort into us. We also had a number of training sessions and work shadowing sessions to really understand the business and teams that are present here at Goldman Sachs. From this, we got to discover the types of teams and projects we may want to work on if we got an offer to come back.
I thought the company was not going to be friendly and the hours were going to be horrible as this is was people normally think of investment banks. But, instead, everyone was really nice and helpful and welcoming. I got to see how employees normally spend their day and what projects they would work on.
The insight week helped me to understand the culture here at goldman sachs and the kind of work they get involved with. It was surprising to meet so many nice people and so many welcoming people and I got a really nice insight into how people really look out for each other here.
Although I am still figuring out if technology is the division for me, I also got to experience other divisions such as operations which I thoroughly enjoyed. Therefore, I know that if I apply for future roles, I know what to look out for and what kind of roles I might enjoy here at Goldman Sachs.
Everything Else
I was paid and also my travel and my accommodation was covered. The hotel was 10 min walk from the office which was amazing as I have never lived so central in London before. Therefore, it was a great experience. Often, lunches and dinners were hosted so some days I did not need to buy lunch or dinner.
There were plenty of chances to network. We had sessions set up to meet people and different affinity networks around the business. However, we also got the chance to network on our own and met other people around the office.
The social events were really fun and we had loads of time to network and get linkedin contacts. This will be so valuable in the future so I am really glad I got the chance to do this. Everyone is so keen on keeping in touch as well so that was nice.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend, the best internship I ever took part in.
