The Role
Overall, the internship was a fantastic experience. The people are intelligent, kind and patient. The work environment is dynamic and welcoming. The only criticism is that 10 weeks feels like an extended period of time, weeks 4-7 are a bit of a struggle - but then the last 3 fly by!
Most people are very generous with their time, and happy to meet with you to catch up / answer any questions. People are very patient with you, and happy to explain things in depth. They also make it clear that they value your work and contributions to the team.
There is ample opportunity to touch base with your manager to ask questions / get feedback. The culture is very open, and feedback is very much encouraged. Most people are happy to help with anything, big or small!
This really varies - sometimes I was hideously busy and felt like I couldn't leave my desk for a minute. Other times there might have been a bit of a slump in the workflow and I was just wishing someone would ask me to do something. Most of the time, the balance is good, and you're given enough time to complete tasks so you don't feel rushed.
You're given a decent amount of responsibility. You might have daily tasks to complete / projects to manage. Of course, within the context of the firm you are very junior and so responsibilities reflect this, but overall for an internship, you were given responsibility.
As a History 西瓜视频, the financial industry is not particularly relevant to my degree - but the skills I developed were good. Time-management, organisational skills, networking skills are all useful for uni life. And it's great to get the experience / training before graduation.
The Company
The people are friendly and it makes the atmosphere very open and enjoyable. Everyone works hard and it's known that you're there ultimately to do your job, but there is a good community which helps lift spirits too. It never felt unwelcoming / pressured.
This is a very well established / organised internship. Human Resources have organised a great program, with talks and training events and frequent catch up sessions. There are a very occasional kinks with getting put on mailing lists / being on the right payroll, but these are minor and fixed very quickly.
There is abundant training and so many resources on offer. Not only does your team invest in you, but the firm has excellent online educational resources and many organised training sessions which all help aid your development.

This is a great firm to start your career in. The work can be challenging and the hours are demanding but the people are great, the firm invests in you from the start - making it a brilliant first step into the graduate world.
The Culture
Most interns wanted to meet outside of work for drinks and were free to get coffee / lunch in the day. Barring a few exceptions, interns were friendly, enthusiastic and engaged, contributing to a supportive, non-competitive environment.
London is an expensive city - there is no getting round that. But you are being paid very well for the internship and this enables you to live well and enjoy the perks of London living.
London nightlife is fantastic - although expensive, there are so many pubs / bars / clubs and more to do. Especially in the summer - there's so much on.
There were quite a few organised post work events but most were organised between interns, not by the firm.
