The Role
I very much enjoyed by internship with Goldman Sachs. The 10-week programme is intense, with unlimited opportunities for learning and developing skills, as well as building a vast network and getting to know the finance industry. Working at Goldman Sachs has been an incredible experience I would recommend to anyone.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. At Goldman Sachs they choose to view interns as an asset, and not a liability. If you are up for the challenge, you are able to take on real responsibility and contribute significantly to the team. My colleagues were very patient and helpful, and I felt like I could learn a lot from them.
The guidance by management and supervisors is very good. You are given a manager in your team, as well as a buddy, and a mentor from another part of the business. It is simple to ask for feedback, and everyone is willing to give it, so it is not difficult to improve and become better.
I was very busy on a daily basis, which I enjoyed very much. The internships gives you what you put in to it: I was continuously asking for more to do, because I wanted to support my team and make a difference. If you ask, you receive. I had a full day of tasks and projects every day, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think the skills I developed and the training and the training I recieved will benefit me greatly and my degree studies and beyond. I have become a lot more confident in my abilities, as well as I have become more efficient, better at managing time, networking and structuring my day. I think the valuable insight in to the finance industry will also help me in my studies.
The Company
The general atmosphere in the office was lovely. Everyone was really approachable, and always willing to help and be of assistance. My team really took the time to get to know me and make my time here as enjoyable as possible. If I were to provide any negative feedback, I would wish that the team and rest of the floor were more social.
The internship is extremely well organised, everything from training sessions to network events are amazing. They really make sure that you are not left alone without guidance, and the programme is really well structured. There is no rotation, you stay in the same team the entire internship, which I thought of as positiv.

Future employment prospects are very good. The internship is like a 10 week long interview, and they invest a lot in you for you to recieve an offer for a full time role after your studies. They are transparent, good at providing feedback, so that the chances of an offer are great.
The Culture
The social scene amongst interns were really good. I might have wished for more connectivity between interns in different divisions, because there were not that many opportunities to network with them. Between the interns in my division, the social scene was very nice, and we were given many opportunities to network and get to know each other well.
Seeing as this internship is in London, it is quite expensive, however, it did not come as a shock. Flats are very expensive, unless you want to commute 1 hour+ everyday. But it is totally worth it, and the compensation is enough to live comfortably in London for the summer.
