    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was very well organised, from start to finish. The colleagues I worked with were professional, yet welcoming and very eager to help and socialize with my project. But it was the small details like the high quality gym, tea points and field trips that changed the internship from good to great.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued; and at all times I was treated as a full time employee and never felt like 'the intern'. This was mostly because my project had a valuable impact on the firm, and it wasn't simply something that somebody else had done before; so I knew just as much as contextual knowledge as my project partner.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I liked this project because there was no 'hand-holding'. My project partner would let me work independently and steer me in the correct general direction, assisting me if I truly got stuck, but allowed me to develop and learn by letting me work through problems independently. Overall, it was very well supported.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The nature of my project involved integration testing, and running existing slow code (which freed up time for out of work appointments like exercise or coffee catchups). I greatly appreciated that I wasn't locked up in the office for 12 hours a day, because it allowed me to develop my office soft-skills more; give me time to reflect in the evening and socialize with fellow colleagues from other departments.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • For the most part, I was in charge of my own project, making judgment calls on which direction to proceed in, as my project partner/buddy was working on his own project at the time, giving me most of the responsibility. Furthermore my plans for future developments on the project were implemented on the project plan, although they could not be completed.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have greatly increased the way I value my time on a daily basis, and will structure my days more granularly in the future. Furthermore, my soft skills when it comes to people interaction and knowing how to reach out to others for collaboration will stick with me much more throughout the year.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • 3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • 3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • 3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There definitely was. There were several group chats wherein different interns would organise different social outings in the form of either drinks or activities like Bounce (Farringdon). Interns were keen to meet eachother, and there was definitely no shortage of fun on a weekly basis; even on the weekends where I met up with other interns separately as well.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive. Although the prices of food and drink are reflective of the salaries in the area, I found myself spending ~拢25 a day for decent meals. When it came to drinks this price would jack up to around 拢60; with cocktails averaging around 拢12 each. Sustainable socializing wouldn't really work out here unless you worked full-time.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Very good; there were several high bars and food areas of varying price ranges, and interns were always keen to organise events and explore the area together. However, for proper evenings out including dinner, more central London (Soho etc) would be a more appropriate, less formal social area to venture to.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The firm did have several affinity networks, and a good 5 events were organised outside the internship in the form of barbecues, picnics and field trips, which I greatly appreciated. It did require taking the initiative to sign up to the events, but they were readily available which is more than I expected.
