The Role
I greatly enjoyed the team, the work and the general atmosphere and culture of the company. There were no individual points I could recommend improvements on. The working hours were reasonable and the responsibility and support I received exceeded my expectations by far. I also learned a fantastic amount of content.
I received am impressive amount of support and felt values and welcome right from the beginning. The team itself has a great structure and is very open and supportive as a whole. I could always ask for help or feedback, as well as presenting my own progress to interested colleagues.
All inquiries and issues were quickly dealt with and for any concerns I had, my supervisor made time immediately. I always felt well respected and valued, and all concerns taken seriously. I could not have asked for a better supervisor and feel like it added a lot of value to my internship.
I had a lot of work to do, but I never felt stressed or overwhelmed by it. I could always make time to get to know the company or join firm internal events when I wanted. When the work became to much, or too little, I could always talk to my manager about it.
I worked on a much valued project and was left with a lot of free choice and responsibility. I was not monitored all the times or forced to give constant feedback, but was given any help I needed when I asked for it. It is very rewarding to know that the project will be used in business.
I learned an immense amount of practical skills and experience with working in a business environment. This will not be of much use for my further studies yet an invaluable experience for my future. Particularly the software development cycle and working in a team, heavily relying on each other was relatively new to me.
The Company
The atmosphere was overall calm and quiet, with a decent amount of social activities. Everyone was friendly and supportive, as well as being interested into the project I and my fellow interns were working on. They provided a welcoming atmosphere for me and made sure that I would feel comfortable.
The project and main parts of the internship in the team were both very well organised and supported. Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the initial welcoming week of the internship, where we were given no information about the proceeding week. It worked out fine, but could have been improved by giving more heads up information about the structure upfront.
I made extensive use of the available online resources of the firm, including articles, video training and online courses. My manager also made sure that I could attend any shadowing sessions with other teams or divisions I wanted and made time for me to attend and GS internal events like talks or presentations.

The future employment prospect is very promising in my eyes. I had a great atmosphere, a challenging project and a steep learning curve leaving me with little time being bored. I learnt a lot, and think that this would continue during full time employment, making the position a good choice for me.
The Culture
Multiple social events were offered from official as well as unofficial sources. This included pub visits, barbecues and lunches as well as similar events. Although overall being a nice atmosphere, I thought it could have been more engaging and more support offered to setting up meeting sin a social environment.
London is extremely expensive. Whether it is food, accommodation or travel, everything costs a lot of money. Although the salary being quite good makes it manageable, it is unfortunate to be spending such a large amount of the earned income right away on facilitating the process of living in and around the office.
Cannot judge. Did not go out apart from an occasional pub visit.
There were occasional opportunities, including the CTW, sporting events organised via the firm internal gym or team and firmwide social events. Generally, it was very scarcely scattered and required a lot of individual and personal engagement to make any events and activities happen, rather than being offered right away as part of the experience.
