    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really well organised summer internship scheme. Received lots of support from team and colleagues. Many social events were hosted firm wide, division wide and team wise. There was a strong emphasis on networking, thus a very social firm in nature where you got to meet people across divisions from all over the globe.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Received a lot of support from colleagues in terms of help when you ask, pointers to how to do stuff if you were stuck and good chats in general. It was also very easy to walk up to people in the office and have a quick chat if they were free.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The firm assigns you a manager, who is the main contact in terms of project and the work. Then you also get a buddy for other general questions, such a directions, where to have lunch etc. Then on top of that you also get assigned a mentor to help you kick start your career.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • A day consisted of a lot of emails, meetings every now and then. There were lots of training and keynotes happening - almost on a weekly basis with people who were new analysts to CEO-level. You also had your own project to work on that you present to the directors at the end.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You were giving your own internship project by your team and division so it is different from person to person. Some people worked in small intern teams, while others had a solo project. The projects generally depends on what the team is doing and wants to explore giving you lots of flexibility.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I gained a lot of experience in working in the financial sector as well as in the professional life. From skills such as time management, project management, communication, planning and the list goes on. These skills can assist me for my final year project as the nature of these are somewhat related.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office atmosphere was really welcoming and very open. It allowed people to easily chat to each other about anything whether it was work related, personal chats, going for coffees, making tea at the teapoint or snacking. Walking up to any person was quite easy, even the Managing Director sometimes.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The summer internship was really well set up due to well structure of events, project and networking. With a variety of formal and informal events ranging from work shadowing other divisions to having informal coffee with a colleague whenever it suited you thus giving the flexibility that you sometimes need.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm has a lot of resources devoted to training its employees, both online and offline, whether it is soft skills of technical skills on finance or tech. The issue I was having was to find time to do all the training, and of the training I did, it was very well delivered.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects are very appealing. To be privileged to work in a such firm would be a great place to start and perhaps be in many years down the road. The firm has a good internal mobility structure allowing employees to move around if desired and where the skill set match

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There were a lot of social events with other interns and colleagues. Sometimes just with interns, both arranged by the firm and also by the interns on own initiative. There were also colleague drinks and events hosted both by the firm and at own initiatives, so there were almost events every day!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The bars around the office are decently priced. Happy hours make the cost definetly better. However, during company hosted events - food or snacks and drinks are usually provided. Both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks such as beers, wines to juice and simple finger food or canapees are also offered.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are bars and pubs open to quite late. Happy hours are usually right after work and lasts for a bit. The local bars and pubs are options but there are other places to go nearby as well so there are plenty of options on where to go and what to do.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company offers social events like picnic in the park for new analysts and interns. Then there are affinity networks such as LGBT+ Network, Womens' Network etc. which has multiple speakers events and socializing as well. These are open to anyone so employees are encouraged to join to learn more about this.
