    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I very much enjoyed my internship. It was a great experience with an incredibly steep learning curve where no day is the same as another. The structure of the internship is fantastic too allowing interns to get exposure to so many different parts of the division. It has been an eye opening 10 weeks that I will not forget any time soon.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my 'colleagues'. Current employees will take the time to sit down with you and learn more about you as well as answering any questions that you have. It says a lot about the culture and the desire to support people in the very early stages of their career in order to develop and grow both in the work space but also as people.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The structure of the internship and the role that both your supervisors and the HR department is amazing. Whenever there are problems, issues are general concerns you always have the opportunity to talk to your HR representative and get their advice as well as have them help you find the best solution.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy, but in a good way. The structure of the internship is for you to meet as many different people as possible and learn as much as you can within the 10 weeks that you are here. In week 10 you are still meeting new faces and learning new things, it never stops.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Of course given the nature of the industry outright responsibility is difficult to receive by interns. However, there will always be tasks that you can get involved with and try to add value wherever possible. If not it is always a good opportunity to shadow employees and observe them completing their tasks.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The last 10 weeks have been a once in a lifetime experience. The skills that I have developed (especially soft skills) are invaluable and will stick with me for the rest of my life. You are taught above all discipline, how to work under pressure and how to work in a highly intense environment.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in the office was great. There is a constant buzz and excitement. It is the nature of the industry. As soon as something happens on a macro or micro level, the office feels the effects first and you have the unique chance to take it in and enjoy that electricity.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Incredibly well organised. Every week is carefully planned and organised by HR. There is a clear structure and constant communication throughout the internship reducing error possibilities. The set up of the internship allows you to be exposed to so many different parts of the firm, something that other firms do not offer.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm invests in you on a daily basis. Every minute that a current employee spends with you is an investment made by the firm. Time is very valuable in a company like this, hence it is intrinsically valuable when one can sit down and learn from employees who have been doing the job for a long time.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Future job prospects are incredibly appealing! The firm puts a lot of emphasis on wanting to hire new, fresh, young talent and dedicate a lot of time and resources in order to achieve this. In an ideal world all interns would be hired however that is not possible, but the firm does pride itself on having a very high intern conversion rate.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There was a very good social scene. All the interns have gotten on very well with each other with outings organised at the end of every week for whoever had time. It was a good atmosphere with everyone helping each other in times of stress for example. It is a great class to be a part of.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is very expensive, but that is because of the central location of the office in London. Of course it is possible to live in other areas of town and then commute in. Furthermore, the cost of socializing is average especially seeing as the internship only lasts for 10 weeks.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The office is located in the heart of London so the nightlife is at your finger tips. The nightlife in the immediate vicinity of the office is relatively non-existent, but there are a lot of pubs and bars for after work drinks that are always well attended. All in all, you are in London, enough said!

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Given the structure of this specific internship there weren't many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. However, we were required to take part in the Community TeamWorks project the GS supports, where we spend one day giving back to a local community through one of their local organizations. I for example have spent a day at a retirement home in the city.
