The Role
100%. The best experience of my professional life. Working at a bank such as Goldman Sachs comes with its benefits. I felt great working there and being surrounded by equally smart (and more often than not smarter) people. It it important to mention that it was my first internship experience so my answer could be a little bit biased. However, the brand name of Goldman on your CV gives you such a kickstart in your career that even if the workload is slightly above your expectations it is worth it.
All my colleagues were respectful and willing to help. What is more, they really wanted to show me that I provide value to the team even if the tasks I was doing were not that significant in my own opinion. They always thanked me for my work and were treating me as an equal team member.
I was in a team which included 3 functions. Hence, there were 3 different managers providing me guidance and ensuring that I am on track. They were really supportive and valued me even more than my colleagues. They were always kind to help me or recommend someone else to help me. Moreover, they really tried to integrate me to the team.
I was busy enough to spend substantial amount of time in the office, but it should be noted that a large percentage was devoted to networking, training sessions, coffee catch ups with senior people. To sum up, it was worth it. I guess that people can perform their tasks in about 65-70% of their time, but all these 'out-of-actual-work' commitments are really important.
For one of the three functions I was actually given real day-to-day tasks to perform which included large transactions and required a lot of attention to detail and precision. Of course, there were people who were supervising and were there to spot any mistakes, but it was really important task that usually requires experienced employees.
I believe that the skills I developed here are so vital that it could not only be limited to only degree studies. I've built excel and power point skills for business, networking and communication skills as well as a lot of technical expertise which will be extremely valuable in any future profession. Also, I learned how to do things and learn things really fast. Yes, it helps me with my studies as well especially when it comes to presenting or leading projects.
The Company
Really friendly and open, amazing culture. Everybody was open to give me time even if they are busy (with only a few exceptions). I've had many coffee chats with people from many different teams and divisions and everybody was willing to give me advice and tell me about their role/function.
100% again. Networking events, talks, training sessions. As an intern you get the chance to attend multiple events throughout the years including talk with the CEO, regional CEO and partners of the firm. The only thing that could be a little bit better maybe is that we had only one event with all other interns. Maybe it could be better if we had 2-3 organised events with all other interns and not only our division.
I could say that the whole summer was training/ At company like GS you can't deal with clients or complex procedures until you are fully trained. Hence, most of the summer was training and development. All these training sessions, internal online courses, panel discussions, etc. was time taken from someone's busy schedule. If we convert that to the actual value in monetary units I could say that the interns cost a lot.

If I get an offer, I will probably come back. I might consider other division, if possible, or other function but overall Goldman Sachs is the company to work for at the beginning of your career. Of course, the culture and work is not for everyone. Plus, different teams have different working hours. For example, if you know the industry well you would know that the investment banking division works more than pretty much any other division. But that is the industry standard. To sum up, if you know what you want to do and Goldman Sachs offers it, then it is one of the best places to start your career in my view.
The Culture
People were really friendly. Other interns were willing to socialize and there were facebook group chats, whatsapp group chats, etc. There was an opportunity to go for drinks pretty much every day if you wanted to. What is more, everybody was really inclusive and even people who were a little bit shy were always invited.
London is quite expensive, but the salary is good enough for comfortable living. I'm typically modest with my expenses so I was able to save a little bit. As long as you plan accordingly and don't drink excessively you will be fine. Of course, eating out every day or drinking in the city of London could be expensive.
Nightlife in the city of London is mostly pubs and bars. People typically go there after work for drinks and then, if you want to go clubbing you might need to consider some of the more popular destinations in London. There is something for everyone in London so that was not a problem.
We had a really good volunteering day sponsored by the firm. All the interns had one work day to devote to different causes such as teaching kids, preparing food for homeless people or simply cleaning/refurbishing a public area. This was also an excellent way to socialize with other people from different divisions.
