    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my internship a lot. I had the opportunity to work with people who are very experienced in their respective fields; I learned a lot as this was my first work experience outside of university. It allowed me to develop interpersonal and technical skills. Also, there were many events and talks which was good for exposure to the company and it's culture.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt that my colleagues would always make time for me if I said that I had questions or I wanted to catch-up with them. They definitely made me feel welcome to the team from the start. My colleagues would set aside time and ask me about my progress and if I had concerns.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had weekly catch-ups with my manager and they would always ask me if there was anything I wanted to flag up and would respond to any concerns I had straight away. Furthermore, when I expressed that there were areas that I wanted to work on, they would help me in suggesting what I could do in order to improve those areas.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I would say that I was quite busy and there was always something to do. I would have daily scrum calls so I would update people on my progress daily. Although the amount of work is not so much that you cannot handle it. There are definitely times when things get quite busy but also times when things get calmer.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • From day 1 I felt that I was given responsibility, when working on my project I was in charge of the work that I was doing and in what way I chose to implement things. Furthermore, by the 3rd week I was given an opportunity to present in front of the global team and I was given full control of what to add into my presentation.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Having done this internship, I have gained a lot of knowledge about real-world practical applications. I have had the opportunity to put my theoretical knowledge into practice and I have learnt a lot about new technologies that are used in industry. Furthermore, I feel that going back into my final year of university I am much more confident and can approach my final year project with the skills I have gained during my internship.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office is open plan so that people can speak and collaborate. It can get loud at times and quiter at times. We would also have cakes on certain days; people are friendly and approachable and you can ask anyone if you have concerns. It is a nice place to work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was very well organised and from the start I was told what I would be doing and the break down of my project. People were supportive in the tasks that I needed to achieve and would ask me how I was getting on. There were also talks and events which were well organised.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invests a lot in personal growth. I was given a whole week at the start to do tutorials in the technologies i would be using in my internship. It is also encouraged to continue learning throughout the internship and outside of work. Development in other skills e.g. communication are also encouraged.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised/Company Gym

    Financial Bonus

    Healthcare/Dental

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The opportunities are very appealing and it is clear that employees are given the chance to grow and develop their career in ways that they want. The company invests a lot in the growth of its employees and wants people to stay and grow within. It is a great place to start your career.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There are events organised by interns. At times it can be difficult to meet up as people finish at around 6/6:30 and it is difficult to meet up after work. There are lunches organised but sometimes in the other office locations and it can be too long to walk over there.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area is expensive as it is zone 1- but London itself is an expensive city. I would recommend living further east and commuting as it is cheaper. Also with the salary provided, it is affordable and you can still socialise and go out as well as have enough for rent.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • I do not go out clubbing but from what i have heard there are good nightclubs in the area. Also, there are nice rooftop bars around st paul's so you can definitely go there. The area itself is very close to Liverpool street where you can find bars and nightclubs.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work - organised by interns and by the company itself. There were welcome and leaving events and social events throughout the internship e.g. drinks, bbq, picnics. There are also frequent team lunches and team drinks that you can attend.
