    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I did enjoy it; the environment was relaxed and the people were friendly. Work hours are also flexible and we were even given optional leave. We also do not work during weekends. I had enough time to work and also deal with personal business or go sightseeing during the period of the internship.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone here is friendly. The people here are always trying to bring out the best in you. There are so many support structures. Buddies, managers, HR, affinity groups, colleagues, etc. Everyone is always there and put in a lot of effort to make sure you make the most out of the internship.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The management made an active effort in making sure that every intern here gets as much guidance and support they need. This could come in form of buddies, who you can ask all your "dumb" questions :), managers who give you regular performance feedback, or HR in organising events aimed at making us cultivate the habit of excellence.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was quite busy, as I was assigned a project with a deadline (and also deadlines for different measures of success), but it struck a perfect balance. The amazing thing is that I was not under so much pressure to deliver, and was encouraged to see it as a learning experience (as an intern).

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I would say that I was given a bit more responsibility than one would expect for an intern, but it was nothing so challenging. The remarkable thing is that I was doing real work and not a dummy project, and I could clearly see the bigger picture of how what I do integrates with what the team does.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As a programmer, I had to learn quite a number of languages and frameworks to complete my project. I also learnt some remarkable soft skills, most especially communication, time management, interpersonal skills, teamwork and work ethics, which I believe would remain of use to me even long after the internship.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere is quite relaxed as work hours are flexible. There is a cafeteria, a gym and one could also participate in other indoor sports (tennis for example). All these go a long way in easing the atmosphere, and puts one in the right frame of mind to do work.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was well organised and thoroughly planned from start to finish. The recruitment process was also well organised, took up to a month and there were several stages, but this is understandable as they wanted to pick only the best. All intern events were well organised as well; the product of thorough and long-term planning.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm has invested a lot in me. From organising a recruitment event in Nigeria (where I come from) to handling the processing of my visa, organising a pre-internship training with SEO Africa, paying for my flight tickets (which is considerably expensive given where I come from) and constantly investing time and energy to make sure I get the most of my internship, I can say they have given me everything.

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    International Travel

    Financial Bonus

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    Travel loan

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • After everything the firm has given me and invested in me, I'd say future employment prospects would be really appealing. The firm has shown me in so many ways, even as an intern, that I matter (and so do other employees). I have seen the bigger picture of how the work I do impacts the firm, even as an intern.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Yes. The culture of the firm is based on networking and feedback. Pertaining to networking, we are encouraged to be social, meet new people, interact and build our network. Several intern events were organised by HR for this purpose. We also went on tours where we had as much fun as learning new things.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living was average. It was not as high as I expected it to, but also, since I am from another country, it was not as low as what I was used to. Nevertheless, the primary thing to be concerned about is transportation (in London). Every other thing should be fairly reasonably priced.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife is quite fun. I once watched a movie at a nearby cinema after work hours on a Friday. The movie ended around 11pm, and there was still so much activity going on, even at that time of the night. Transportation is also readily available at night.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were several opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. Due to the remarkable work-life balance, I had enough time to attend to personal business, go sightseeing (as I was a visitor in the city), have some rest after a long week and participate in other fun activities.
