The Role
My internship was a great experience. I feel like I have grown both professionally and personally. The tasks and projects I have been assigned helped me develop my skills, especially analytical thinking and leadership. The exposure to senior management and other company employees allowed me to increase confidence in the work place and enhance my public speaking abilities. Overall, it was great!
I felt very valued by my colleagues. I was held responsible for the work that I was doing, which I really appreciated. My colleagues also asked for my opinion on processes and projects and highly welcomed my initiative. Due to the ideas I have shared and work that I have completed, I believe I made an impact on the team and overall firm.
At the start of my internship, I have been assigned key people that I should reach out to if I had any questions or concerns. I had weekly catch ups with management as well as additional meetings if needed. However, my initiative and individual work was encouraged when working on my projects.
As I was assigned daily tasks and projects for my internship, I was quite busy during the internship and the days never felt boring or long. This perfectly matched my expectations, because being busy helps me in being productive. Every day at the firm felt different and I was meeting new people on a daily basis, which also provided me with opportunities to build my network.
I had a good and balanced level of responsibility. I had daily tasks as well as projects to complete, which were dependent on my initiative. As an intern, I was surprised how much impact I was able to make on both the team and the whole firm. I was held responsible for my work, which provided me with amazing opportunities to grow.
I am yet to come back to the final year of the university after completing my internship. I believe the experience has developed my leadership and team work skills, as well as problem solving and time-planning. The final year of the university will be very productive and the experience I have gained working for Goldman Sachs in the financial services industry is highly related to my studies, therefore the theoretical learning at the university will feel much more applicable.
The Company
The atmosphere felt friendly and welcoming, especially in my department. As my internship was in financial services, it was a fast-paced environment. My curiosity about the business was appreciated and I was able to approach people at different levels at the firm. I fully used my "intern card" to find out how the business operates.
The interns at the firm had overall divisional experience as well as individual programmes. We had divisional training, exposure to senior management, talks from the leaders of the firm including the CEO. Additionally, I had an internship plan created specifically for me. This internship was very well organised and helped be build a broad understanding about overall business with a focus on my department.
The internship started with training, organised by divisional recruitment. I have then had training for the specific business unit I was completing my internship in and my team training. I really appreciated how much work was put into the internship programme. This made me feel very welcomed and I felt that I made a great decision to spend my summer working for Goldman Sachs.

Very appealing. The company puts a lot of effort in its employees. The work programmes, especially at junior level, are very well structured. The firm also seeks feedback from its employees both during and after the completion of the programme. I would highly recommend Goldman Sachs for a motivated, career-driven individual.
The Culture
Yes, almost everyone at the firm is very social. The company is good at providing an inclusive environment for its employees.
As my internship was in the City of London, it was quite an expensive area. On another note, plenty of good places to socialise in.
Great! London is a great area for nightlife and there is plenty of choice for everyone.
Yes, there were quite a few opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work. The firm encourages the involvement in outside activities through creating sports clubs, affinity networks and additional events. The company also has a nice and convenient gym available to access both during working days and weekends.
