The Role
Really enjoyed the internship. I always felt challenged yet guided by my colleagues. PwC also takes their staff development very seriously, and you will often be supported to take up opportunities you're interested in.
The people, especially my colleagues in the Manchester office, were incredibly friendly and helpful. From day one, we've been told that no question is a stupid question and it is clear that PwC employees live by this ethos years after.
My managers were not just interested in fulfilling project tasks and priorities, but they were also keen on furthering my personal development at the same time. This was greatly appreciated.
The degree of busy-ness differs between projects. I often found myself occupied, but also because I was encouraged to take charge of my own placement and find work I can support, which I have greatly appreciated.
I was often trusted to take charge of certain key tasks, which I have enjoyed very much. I was lucky enough to have been under a directive rather than prescriptive management style.
My time at PwC has nudged me to look at problems from many different perspectives, and the project management habits developed are definitely transferable to my studies and beyond.
The Company
Amazing balance of work and play, the Manchester consultants definitely work hard and play hard.
The internship was very well organised, providing us with a common set of skills to work up from, while also creating networking opportunities.
PwC is very supportive of your personal development plans, and I was amazed at how willing they were to cover transport fees to travel across the UK for training purposes.

Managed to complete my summer internship with a full-time offer.
The Culture
Fellow placement colleagues were like-minded and interesting, and we gel both inside and outside of the office.
It is not difficult to live comfortably in Manchester. The dollar does stretch quite a bit, as compared to my experience in London during term time.
Bars are open till late, amazing atmosphere, friendly people, and the streets are generally safe.
There are many opportunities circulated via the office email network, such as volunteering sightseeing and sporting opportunities.
