The Role
Genuinely an all-round excellent placement. Would absolutely recommend to others considering a career in this area.
I was in a really good team that made me feel welcome and kept me busy throughout the six weeks. I was treated as a permanent member of staff not as an intern.
I had weekly catch ups with my people manager. These were very relaxed informal chats to see how I was getting on. I knew he was always available to help me find work if ever I had capacity.
As to be expected with an internship, there were busier times than others but on the whole I usually had tasks to do.
I was treated like an associate, not an intern. I was made fully involved on lots of client projects, not just shadowing but doing actual work for them.
I was offered a job for when I graduate in the same team in the same department. Therefore, what I have learnt over the last 6 weeks gives me a good head start when I go back next year.
The Company
Really relaxed office environment. Everyone was very friendly and made a real effort to make me feel welcome. They have introduced a 'dress for your day' policy where you dress according to what you have in your diary.
Very well organised. Started with a 3 day induction for all UK interns at a hotel in Windsor. This was an excellent introduction to meet all the other interns in a social environment. There were also great networking opportunities including a Partners Dinner.
During the induction there were a lot of training sessions. Also, if you had little work to do you had access to a whole library of optional online training courses

Very appealing. I was offered a grad job in the final week which I have accepted. There is a good and clear career progression path.
The Culture
Very good social scene. Regularly went out with people met at induction and had several team socials over the course of the placement.
Cost of living very affordable. All travel (not including to and from office) was reimbursed. Also, expenses from team events were reimbursed.
Very good nightlife (Birmingham).
