The Role
I had a great six weeks at PwC. It feels like I was there a lot longer because I did so much while I was there but at the same time it didn't drag. It was completely different to how I expected it to be because I don't come from an accounting background but I was pleasantly surprised.
I've really felt valued and trusted by management and felt that most people invested their time into making sure you got the most out of the internship. There's some managers who don't have time for you but on the most part they're great and care about your personal development.
I didn't come from an accounting background so most things needed explaining to me but people took the time to make sure I understood my work. Someone's always around to answer your questions and you get a great support network. Everyone's allocated a buddy in the year above who you can chat to about anything.
There were some days where it was a struggle to find work to do but other days where I ended up offering to work overtime just to make sure I got things finished. It very much depends on what you're doing on a specific day but for the most part I was kept busy and I've done a wide range of work.
I was trusted straight away to do any work that my team felt I was capable of. You get thrown into doing the work, with guidance, and do pretty much the kind of work you'd be doing if you started as a graduate.
I've come out of the internship with a job offer at PwC so it's prepared me really well for the graduate role I'll be taking on. I've also gained a lot of confidence as there's a lot of working with and networking with new people involved so I feel like I've done a lot of personal development here as well as learning a lot about audit.
The Company
There are no allocated desks so when you go in on a morning you choose where to sit meaning you can sit with friends or people you're working with that day. It's a great atmosphere and everyone's really approachable.
The induction was a residential trip to a hotel in Windsor full of activities which was really well organised and for the most part in the office I was always allocated work. Towards the end of the internship because it's not busy season the workload was running a bit dry but that's the only fault. There are regular meetings with your people manager to assess your progress.
It's really evident how much PwC and its people have invested in the interns. Managers take time out of their day to make sure you're constantly learning and developing and I feel like it's definitely paid off.

Company Parties/Events
Most interns get offered a job. The reason they choose you as an intern is because they already like you so you have to do something wrong not to get offered a job.
The Culture
We had lunch together regularly and there were drinks socials organised for after work.
I already live in Leeds for uni so didn't have to pay extra to live here but Leeds is pretty expensive as it is and if I wasn't paying for 西瓜视频 accommodation here already I'd find it expensive to find somewhere to live here.
Everyone knows Leeds is a good night out.
There's plenty of opportunities as long as you put yourself out there and ask.
