The Role
The last six weeks have been such a valuable experience for me. I have gained some important technical skills whilst also further developed my soft skills. The work was very varied and interesting and I enjoyed tackling each different problem. The team were fantastic and so welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
All the team were so welcoming from the moment I arrived. Over the six weeks, I worked with people of different grades (from partner to associate) which was great for my development. Also, the work I was given was very stimulating, not just simple tasks, and that was very much appreciated.
Whenever I had a question about a piece of work or needed a particular technical element explaining, all managers were more than happy to help me. The way they explained things was also very simple which made everything seem a lot more straightforward. Managers would also go out of their way to make sure I had work to be getting on with and provided comprehensive briefs before I started anything.
I was proactive in asking my colleagues for work and they would always provide me with things to do when available. However, this was not always possible. The workload was quieter than usual as clients are away on holiday etc. Work would often come in waves. I had a couple of days of been quite quiet and then some days would be back to a good amount of work.
I was given the responsibility of a normal associate within the team. I often had to liaise with other teams, sometimes internationally, and work on complex problems. The only issue was I don't have some of the technical training and so couldn't get fully immersed in the very technical aspects of certain projects but this is expected.
With the aim of working at PwC in the future, all the technical skills I picked up whilst on the internship will be invaluable once I start full time in this team. The soft skills I have also developed will be important in life, such as dealing with clients and senior colleagues. My time management improvements and understanding what work to prioritise to meet deadlines will be transferable to my degree.
The Company
The office was a fun place to work. The associates I worked with were like minded people and also very knowledgeable. It was a great place to develop whilst the day never dragged. Everyone was very approachable so I was never afraid to ask questions. Felt a lot more relaxed than I was expecting.
The three day residential induction to kick off the programme was the perfect start. It allowed me to meet interns from all around the country and provided me with invaluable line of service training before my first day in the office. On my first day in the office, my 'buddy' met me at reception and gave me an introduction to the firm. She was also always there to answer my questions if needed.

PwC offers fantastic progression opportunities. Every person I spoke to at the firm portrayed that same feeling. It really encourages and promotes its people. There are also opportunities to move within the firm to different teams. A main reason why I will accept my offer is how exciting the future employment prospects are.
The Culture
The residential induction was the perfect opportunity to meet fellow interns. Some of which became my close friends and we met up for drinks consistently throughout the internship. The Dragon's Den competition was also a good chance to meet people as we created teams and then met up for dinner/drinks before the final.
London is an expensive city. However, the summer party was all provided for by the firm.
