    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the summer internship, on both a personal and professional level.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt as if the work I did was valued by my colleagues. This was shown through internal feedback and just general conversations with colleagues. I also felt valued on more of a personal level, as I was invited out to social events and felt like an integral part of the team.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had regular catch-ups and chats with my "buddy" and people manager, along with wider members of my team. This meant that any queries or problems I had would be attended to on a regular basis. In addition, it was very easy to seek support and guidance when necessary because of the open office environment and the collaborative nature of my team.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • As is the nature of consulting, the amount of work I had on a regular basis fluctuated heavily. There were days where I had to work a lot later than my required hours and there were other days, where I did not have much to do. I would have preferred a more stable flow of work but this is simply the nature of consulting. In addition, due to the technical nature of tax, I was not always able to contribute to client projects.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my summer internship. However, I never felt as if the responsibility I got was overwhelming, as I had received the appropriate guidance and support to manage it. This responsibility took the form of working on pertinent issues affecting clients and also representing PwC in important client meetings.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel as if I have honed my analytical skills and improved my research experience during this internship and this will surely put me in a better position next year, in regards to my academic studies. I also developed my interpersonal and communication skills and I think this will actually have a great impact in both my personal and my professional life going forward.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was one of collaboration and teamwork, but there was also the opportunity to work alone if required. There was also a nice social aspect, due to people going to lunch together everyday and frequent social events, such as a boat party and a trip to watch the cricket.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The summer internship was incredibly well organised. I was never in a position of confusion, as I was always made aware of what I was to do and had to do.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think the firm invested heavily in me. The first three days consisted of training only, and this was incredibly comprehensive. We also got to work on team activities during these three days, which helped improve our interpersonal skills. In addition, I was fortunate enough to be part of two client meetings, which was a huge perk.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    Working from home

    5/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The future employment prospects are incredible appealing within the organisation. There is flexibility to move across divisions, particularly after you've completed the ACCA. There is also a clear scheme for progression within the firm, which you are made aware of as soon as you join. The progression is also quite swift, as PwC are always looking to grow.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The social scene was very good between interns. The three days of training we received meant that we had time to introduce ourselves and get to know each other. We met up regularly, to go to the pub or a social event, held by one of our teams.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living and socialising in London, as expected, is quite steep. However, the area around Embankment (where I was based) was really nice, and so I felt as if this price was somewhat justified. There are an abundance of restaurants, bars and club in a 2 to 3 mile radius of the Embankment office.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The nightlife was very good. There are an abundance of bars and pubs in walking distance of the PwC Embankment office. For clubs, Piccadilly and Oxford Circus are only a few stops journey on the tube. Elephant & Castle is also relatively close and also has quite a few clubs.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes. There were regular social events, as well as opportunities to get involved in sports, such as cricket or football. On my first day, there was a boat party on the river.
