The Role
I had such a fantastic summer at PwC. I've learnt a huge amount and gained so much experience within the area I want to pursue my career. I have been able to meet a range of people from the firm and experience a variety of teams, all of which have been really enjoyable.
The teams at PwC were always so welcoming and keen to help and answer any questions that I had. They made me feel valued by giving me genuine work on projects that would eventually go out to the client. I felt trusted and valued, which was really lovely as a summer intern.
You are given a People Manager and Buddy upon joining the firm, and they support and guide you from day one. Mine were both extremely welcoming and helpful, and I was made to feel very comfortable asking questions even if they were minor. They made sure to keep checking in on me throughout to help me progress and make the most of my experience.
On the whole I was really busy during my time here as I was given a variety of different tasks to do for different teams. I did have a couple of quieter days, but I made sure to ask for work, and the resourcing team were fantastic at finding you things to do.
I think I was given the appropriate level of responsibility for a summer intern. I was given live project work to be sent to clients, but was still guided where needed to make sure I was doing the work to the right standard. I was left to work independently and felt very trusted with the work.
The skills may not aid my degree, as I do not study finance, however in a career perspective, they will help hugely. I have learnt so much about the area I want to pursue my career in, and been able to develop a much larger pool of knowledge to take me forward, which I will certainly be using going forward.
The Company
The people at PwC are what makes it so special. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and keen to help out, and it feels like people are more than just colleagues. There is always a buzz around the office, and I think this is what makes everyone so productive, because they are genuinely enjoying what they are doing, and who they are doing it with.
The resourcing team and actual project teams I worked with were all excellent, and incredibly useful with making sure my internship ran smoothly. I did however feel that the recruitment team were a little unorganised in letting us know what the plans were for pursuing a graduate role, and I would have liked to have heard more from them throughout.
PwC invest a huge amount in their staff right from day one, across all levels. The knowledge and skills they have helped me to gain now will be invaluable for me. We started the internship with a 3 day induction/training event in Windsor, which was a brilliant way to begin to get to know people, and learn about the job and firm.

I am extremely hopeful of returning to PwC next Autumn to begin a graduate role. I think PwC is the perfect place to embark on my career as there is so much opportunity here, and I can't imagine another work place feeling as welcoming as it does here. PwC are hugely successful in all they do and I would love to be a part of that on a permanent basis.
The Culture
There were very few interns in my division and hence we didn't do that much together in the evenings, but we did try and have lunch together, and also organised an end of internship catch up. There was a great social scene with regular colleagues however, and I really enjoyed this after work.
London is of course really expensive, and hence as an intern I did have to take a bit of a financial hit! I personally feel that this is worth it to be in London and experience the buzz here, as I am not from London originally. Drinks are expensive as is accommodation.
The nightlife in London is amazing because there is something for everyone, and you never run out of new places to try out. I didn't really experience this through work however, only in my own time with friends from elsewhere.
There is so much to get involved in in London of course since it is such a big city. I didn't get involved with too much as I was quite busy but I did get to go to a team Away Day which was great fun, and involved team activities and a BBQ.
