The Role
I really enjoyed my internship. I had a variety of work to do. I worked with the Cyber Security, Technology Risk and Data Analytics team. The work environment is amazing. The resourcing team are very flexible and they can adjust client jobs to suit your demands. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.
I felt quite valued by my colleagues. I was giving a high level of responsibility and the team were very supportive. I was encouraged to voice my opinions and most times they were actually considered. I was treated with respect and at no point did I feel inferior to my other colleagues.
My supervisor and the management as a whole were very supportive. They were always ready to listen to your demands and they try as much as possible to meet them. When given a task they ensure they give you the resources required to complete the task. They also checked up on me at intervals to ensure that I was doing alright.
I was fairly busy on a daily basis. It fluctuated throughout my internship. Sometimes I had to work extra hours to complete some projects. However, overall I was given enough to keep me busy for the day. You can generally get as busy as you want, as you have the opportunity to ask for more work as desired.
I developed a lot of skills over the course of my internship. I was involved in a 3 day induction training at the start of my intership and some other trainings over the course of my internship. Their are several transferrable skills I gained such as: interacting with clients, attention to detail, general risk management, documentation and controls, IT skills etc.
The Company
The atmosphere was generally great most times. Everyone was full of enthusiasm. Everyone was generally very interactive. There was hardly ever a dull moment. A lot of positive energy in the office most times. It is a very good atmosphere to work! There are organised lunches, dinners and catch-ups at intervals. Overall, I really enjoyed working in that atmosphere.
The internship was well organised. Despite the fact that there is a high volume of intern intake, the management made sure that everyone was well catered for. There are procedures in place for most things you need to do e.g. getting involved in certain jobs, expenses claiming, travelling for client projects etc.
Overall, I had a high level of training. I had a 3 day induction training at the beginning of my internship. I also participated in several e-learning module training. There is an online learning platform dedicated specifically to staff training and development, which I found very useful. PwC generally have a strong culture of investing in employees.
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
The employment prospects are really high! A significant amount of interns get offered a job at the end of their internship. They invest so much in their interns and they try as much as possible to keep them. Most of my fellow interns in my division got job offers at the end of their internship
The Culture
There is a very good social scene amongst placement 西瓜视频s and colleagues. There were usual night/after-work socials on Wednesdays and Fridays. We had an away day sometime during my internship which involved participating in various exciting games, to facilitate team bonding. There were usually "mini" catch-up and socials within the office e.g. quizzes, award -giving etc.
The cost of living was alright. Student accommodations are always cheaper during the summer. Although I stayed in a city close to the base office location. Engaging in social activities in the area isn't too bad as well in terms of cost. It is a comparatively cheap area to live and socialise!
