    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship for me was varied and enjoyable. There was good opportunities to gain insight into other business areas and everyone was very friendly. It's a real job, but that can be a breath of fresh air after two or three years of studying at uni. Hours were acceptable and although you were worked hard it wasn't unreasonable.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • When on your internship with PwC you are completing real work. Within assurance you are treated in the same way you would be if you'd just started the grad scheme, you are thrown in at the deep end and given lots of responsibility. You are not an accessory to any job, you are there to be a part of the team.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Although you are thrown in at the deep end at PwC, the amount of support and help available is extraordinary. During my 6 weeks there wasn't once where I asked someone for help and I was told they were too busy and what I was doing wasn't important enough for them to help with. Everyone was super supportive no matter their grade within the firm.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • When assigned to a job I was pretty busy all the time, you had your own responsibilities and deadlines which meant you had to manage your time effectively. In my experience I was never drowning in work which was helpful. There was a week where I was in the office which was a little slow, but on average I was only free for about an hour a day while I was waiting for someone to come to me when they needed my help.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • You have a lot of responsibility as you are given real audit work (in assurance). You are treat as if you are a full time employee and your work will be on the audit file. Everyone's work gets reviewed by a senior so it mitigates any danger if you do make a mistake; you are doing the same job as most other people.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Within my degree studies of mathematics a lot of the key board shortcuts and familiarity with excel I gained will help me in my computer modules. In further life should I decide to return to the firm, which I hope to do, I will be able to use the skills I have learnt to kick start my time here.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere at PwC was really upbeat and everyone was kind and friendly. You did not feel inferior to anyone whilst in the office and everyone paid attention to you and valued your opinions and contributions to discussions being had. The office was open plan which meant different grades of employees mingled freely all the time.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The first week was very well organised with a residential and the instructions were clear on where we had to be and at what times. The rest of the internship locally was well run and I knew where I was going to be everyday before I had to be there.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm wanted us to develop, we had objectives and goals as part of our personal development which we had to gain feedback on for all of our jobs. We had mid and end internship reviews with our people managers to make sure we were where we wanted to be with our own development and were fulfilling what was expected of us.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing, there is a good progression scheme and the internship often leads onto a grad scheme as long as you perform well. Once employed the firm is constantly motivating you to progress through the ranks. If you start as a rad within assurance you will also be on a training contract for the ACA accounting qualification.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Yes absolutely, if we were on separate jobs we made sure to keep in contact through internal and external routes. I think I will stay in contact with my peers throughout the next academic year until we are reunited again when we start as full time employees. There was plenty of opportunity and time, especially within the first week to get to know each other and spend time together.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived in Leicester during my time with the firm which is one of the cheapest cities in the UK for 西瓜视频s. Social events were majorly subsidised by the office so the cost of social events was relativity low. The social events were frequent enough but not too frequent to where you felt you were spending too much money or time on them.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The socials and nightlife was present, however because of the office that I worked at (East Midlands). These events were sometimes hard to attend, the office sits in the middle of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. The location made this very difficult if the social event was in a city that you didn't live in.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was organised football and plenty of socials going on. Unfortunately working in a slightly smaller office which spanned a huge region there wasn't too many other sporting opportunities, which I was disappointed with, I do believe however that if I started here full time I would be abel to set up my own clubs within the firm and that it wouldn't be too hard to get numbers.
