    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Very well organized internship form the beginning. We were taken away for a training weekend, and all the staff back at the office were incredibly inviting and helpful. I felt as though the whole experience has really pushed my skills forward and given me an idea of where I want to go with my career.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Everyone was eager to welcome/help us and I really felt like I had been working here for much longer than I had. Everyone made efforts to speak to us and include us. We were invited to socials and introduced to people from other teams. I definitely felt as though we were welcome at PwC.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • The support and coaching was exemplary from the beginning. The intro trip really prepared us, and all the team members were really good at prepping us before engagements and any client facing work. There was two way coaching too - for areas where we had knowledge we were invited to share.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • We were given a good amount of work. It never became overwhelming or super-stressful, but there was a fairly constant flow of things to get on with, and I felt like I was contributing to the productivity of the team. There were a few days here and there, particularly towards the end, where there was less work. This is totally understandable given that client work requires more committed engagement.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot! There were client calls where I was engaging with the client and using work I had created, and there were several occasions where I was introduced to clients as though I was an associate/s.a. It was always a level of responsibility i was comfortable with though, and I was always asked prior to any client engagements.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The experience as a whole was great training, and I do genuinely feel I got an insight into assurance/consulting which would be impossible to get on "the outside". The internship was long enough to really settle in and build skills among really experienced people, and I'm sure skills I acquired here will be invaluable later in my career.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The hot desking set up can be alienating, but the team I was working with actually sat in their own area, which was nice. There was always someone around to talk to or ask for help, and I never felt overly pressured or anxious to come into the office.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organized. The placement started with a 3 day residential where we were introduced to basic concepts and given fairly extensive coaching. The first actual week at the office was fairly easy-going and we weren't expected to do anything technical or too challenging. We were also given very structured work.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I felt as though PwC really invested in us, not only with the initial training, but with the training throughout the internship. With online e-learns, and extensive informal training from colleagues, I really felt as if PwC was preparing me for a future career in the area, which was highly appreciated.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing. There is the option to work with them as a graduate in the future, which is certainly an attractive option. I am aware that we were exposed to the "easier" side of working at PwC, and that during peak periods in the year, it would be significantly more stressful.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Absolutely. We had lunch as a group on most days, and set up a WhatsApp group from the beginning to stay in touch. In the last couple of days one of the other interns actually arranged a part at her house. The initial residential trip really helped cement these relations.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very high. London is an expensive place in general, so even going out to lunch was expensive. Going out for drinks and events is even worse, and its unlikely a night out would cost less than 拢20-30. Travelling was free for me, since I commuted by bike to work, and walked most places.

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good. Central London has an array of pubs, clubs and bars. For the internship, we didn't really make the most of these, but its definitely there. Having been to university very nearby at the LSE, I have experienced London's nightlife, and I can definitely recommend it! however same comments about things being expensive apply here.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Plenty. Even as interns we were invited to extra-work activities. PwC splits into social "industry groups", and from the beginning we were a part of one of these. this enabled us to attend and engage with a specific social group, and partake in events outside of everyday work. There were quite a few of these opportunities.
