    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship experience with PwC. The 6 week experience was very valuable and it opened my eyes to not only the various opportunities that are available within the firm but also the variety of clients in different industries. I highly recommend the 6 week internship!

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued by my colleagues. What I really enjoyed the most was the fact that every week I would be working on a different project and so would be on a different team. This allowed me to meet and network with many employees in the firm, who were from international backgrounds. All of my colleagues made me feel welcomed as an intern and they were always happy to answer any questions I had, whether it was about the task at hand or the firm.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Throughout the 6 weeks, I felt like I was given a huge amount of support. My supervisor checked up on me from time to time to see how everything was going and if I needed anything or had any questions to ask. He would also give me advice on how to make the most out of my internship and he helped me broaden my knowledge on the firm.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I think it was quite a nice balance. At some points in the internship I did feel challenged with the work, but the nice kind of challenge, one where it feels like they are giving you an opportunity to impress them. It was not too much work for an intern, it was the right balance with opportunities for challenges from time to time. There is always something to do during the internship, in the times where work was a bit light and I had free time, I used that opportunity to either research about my client to get some background or network and get to know more about my colleagues or the opportunities that are available at PwC.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A good amount of responsibility was given, which is very nice because I felt like my team are trusted me to complete my part of the job and they were always available to answering my questions. The types of responsibilities I was given were: helping complete parts of the audit work, taking meeting minutes and debriefing. It was a nice variety of work with the right amount of responsibility given to an intern.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Because I am studying finance, I feel like the knowledge I gained during this internship and working with various clients opened my eyes to how the theoretical knowledge in university is applied in real life. I was also lucky to come up with an idea for my dissertation topic for my final year at university based on one of the projects I worked in with a client.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Extremely well organised! I was very impressed by the structure of the whole internship and how everything was run. It was a clear, straight-forward and simple process.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had a bit of training in the first week on the program that we will be using for the rest of the weeks and on what our department does. In terms of development, we each had a people manager that monitored our development and saw how we progressed throughout our internship. We had to set objectives for ourselves, so it was also another way we could monitor our development as an intern.
