The Role
It was very enjoyable working on several clients with several different people and teams. Working with so many different people enabled me to form many different bonds and relationships. The wide variety of tasks and jobs I was given meant that I was able to experience jobs which I both really enjoyed and didn't enjoy as much.
As an intern who knew nothing, it was tough having little or no experience and walking into teams which had been working together a long time. However, on most of the jobs I was quickly made to feel like a valuable part of the team I was in. There were occasional times where I was given fairly trivial tasks, or not much at all. However this was minimal, and most of the time I was made to feel like a valuable member of the team.
Every manager and supervisor that I worked with and under were extremely helpful and friendly, never overly expectant of my abilities yet often pushing my abilities and helping me develop. There weren't any manager that I felt I couldn't talk to about issues I may have had (work or relationships-wise), which led to a very positive working atmosphere. My people manager in particular was superb, always made time for me and always checked up on how I was doing.
I often found that there were several days where I had a lot of work to do, and hence ended up working very late, and there were also a couple of days where I maybe didn't have enough work to do and was left waiting round a bit. However, generally I felt the workload was appropriate, and if I felt over or underwhelmed with work, I always felt like there was someone I could talk to about it.
On this placement I felt like I was given a good amount of responsibility - as an intern with little knowledge of what I was doing to start with, I was initially not given much, which is what I wanted when starting off. However, as I became more skilful and confident over the course of the internship, more responsibility was placed upon my shoulders, as was appropriate. This also contributed to helping me feel like a valuable member of the team.
On this internship I learnt an incredible amount on how different businesses (large and small) run, and on how the auditing processes of said businesses works. These are valuable skills which I will confidently carry forward into future studies and employment. Learning how to manage my time effectively as well as working closely with a team was key to this job, and was a valuable skill to learn more about.
The Company
When in the office the atmosphere was extremely positive and friendly - I particularly enjoyed the 'dress for your day' dress code, as well as the hotdesking. It really contributed to a positive working atmosphere. On client site the working atmosphere depended more on the client's office, but generally it was positive.
There was never a time when I didn't know what was going on or what I should be doing, and if I did there was always someone I could talk to about it. Plans were made clear well in advance (besides one job-related change that was unavoidable), and communicated effectively to me. People were always willing to help.
It was clear from my treatment at PwC that I was seen as an investment by them and not just someone who was coming in to help out for a few weeks. I was given a lot of individual attention by many people, and it was clear that a lot of money was spent on helping me learn and develop in my role, so that I may continue to be a value asset to the company in the future.

The internship didn't hold anything back in terms of showing that working for the company in the future would be very hard, but rewarding work. I was given a great opportunity to see what working for PwC would be like and it was clear that this internship was seen by them as a chance to invest in my development.
The Culture
It is clear that PwC invests very heavily in social events for its employees - work hard, play hard! There were many people my age working at the office and so lots of opportunities for social occasions. I know many of the social events are very popular and well organised.
PwC is a very social company which offers plenty of opportunity for its employees to go on many social events, including sporting and evening events. Due to the short length of my internship I wasn't able to get involved in too much, but were I here full time, I could see that there is a very good opportunity to do so.
