The Role
This internship is a lot of fun. As it's summer time, generally the workload of teams is lower than usual so people have the time to chat and get to know you. People generally are really nice and you get treated well - not overworked, invited out to things
Most interactions were positive and (particularly management) take a really keen interest in interns are future employees. People were keen to show that they were thankful for work undertaken which made me feel like I was really a part of the time. Only downside is the few times when I caught people speaking about me in the team, being vaguely referred to as 'the intern' when being handed more menial tasks.
Once in the office, people were more than happy to answer any questions and offer advice. There is a strong and genuine willingness for every team member to explain difficult technical matters and to aid people's development which is very promising and means that I never felt I was stuck with work I couldn't do.
I was able to fill the full day every day but was never stressed with work overload
This totally depended on who I shadowed. Sometimes I would sit back and listen to calls, which was nice and less intense. The work variance spanned all the way up to me drafting a client report that was sent out later that week.
My research and concise writing skills were seriously tested throughout the internship, which was brilliant. I feel far more equipped to take on a professional workplace after just 5 weeks in the office.
The Company
Really good atmosphere! People are genuinely good friends and want to socialise, but also work hard and are able to knuckle down if necessary. The office is not silent or tense on any occasion but also easy to get work done in.
Very well organised by PwC - great residential at the beginning and a varied experience. There is some variance, however, in the person you shadow and their planning of the working day.
The firm invest loads in residential training, travel to any meetings or events that may be useful to you, and in professional qualifications later on.
Flexi Time
Working from home
PwC offer around 80% of interns graduate jobs (allegedly). So if you perform well and stay positive then a job is very likely!
The Culture
Not at all. We did meet up sometimes but had no help in planning this or sharing details
Bristol is a fairly expensive city, but nothing we weren't expecting.
