The Role
Very much so! After having no idea what it would be like to work within a corporate environment, I discovered that this was exactly what I wanted to do.
We had all agreed that it felt like I had been within the team for much longer than I really was. Right from the start I was welcomed and fully integrated. Many had been in my shoes before so appreciated the importance of being an intern.
Whilst they were often busy, they were never too busy to answer my questions. From graduate all the way up to partner level, my team helped me with my work and explained processes in a good amount of detail.
On the odd occasion I ran out of work to do, but this was quite rare. In less than a handful of times, I was struggling to stay busy; but I was quickly given more work to do. In fact, the best times were when I was under pressure!
Due to the nature of the work, I carried out the first draft of most of my projects. This gave me a large amount of responsibility, as in many cases there were only a couple of people who would be checking my work!
The general time management and organisational skills will come in handy for the rest of my degree. More broadly, I feel as though I have picked up the basics needed to start learning for my professional exams when I start working as a graduate.
The Company
There was always a good balance between work and chat, with the quiet times being when everybody was busy. The office is very open plan which allows for collaboration and encourages people to be more sociable.
After an exciting induction spanning a few days, the work never really stopped - in a good way. I was involved in a variety of projects, most of which weren't connected, but some clients stayed throughout the placement. This kept it fresh throughout.
The three day induction showed a clear desire to invest in the interns. With lots of social events bringing out our relationship skills, the formal training provided a good basis. Whilst I would have liked more specific training for my role, this was fulfilled by my team in the office.

I would really like to come back to work here, which shows just how much of a good impression I received. Everyone is really friendly and the career progression is excellent. Fingers crossed I got the job!
The Culture
I was the only pensions intern in my office, and only one of two in our regional team. The other interns in my office were frequently working at a client site but we met up a few times. I also went to drinks/meals with my team.
I already had my accommodation for university, so didn't pay any money to stay here. I also rode my bike to the office, which meant that any wages went straight into my pocket!
Bristol is great for a night out in general, and the interns went to both a company party and out for drinks a couple of times. You can't go wrong round here!
There are a number of sports opportunities within each office, but due to a combination of me being busy, not here for long enough, and not being told much about them, I didn't go to any.
