The Role
I really really enjoyed my time at PwC - the people are so friendly and it really is a lovely environment to work within, especially in the office I was in (Glasgow). I felt very at home at PwC and the environment made it easy to go to work every day!
To begin with, I felt as though I was annoying worker on the engagement I was on but as time went on I realised actually was a valued member of the team and everything I was doing was a bonus for the team. As an intern, everything you do means someone else doesn't need to do it, so you're a bonus!
Supervisors and management in PwC on engagements are so helpful - initially I thought they would be unaccommodating as we are only interns but they are honestly so helpful and really are there for whatever you need and any questions you have. They encourage you to ask questions and there really is silly questions.
Generally I was busy. On the first engagement I worked on I was busy every day and normally had something to do and there was always something I could help with. Towards the end there was paperwork we had to fill out and had to get in contact with managers ourselves for work, but it was generally quite busy!
I didn't expect to be given as much responsibility as I was when at PwC. You are given the majority of responsibility for your own work whilst at PwC (don't get me wrong you can ask as many questions as you like), but you are expected to take responsibility and meet required deadlines.
I felt as though the material I had learned at university wasn't really applicable to the job but nonetheless gave me a general understanding beforehand. In terms of what I learnt on the job, I feel like it has put a practical aspect to the items I have learned during education and gives me a better understanding and gives what I've learnt a purpose.
The Company
In the office, the atmosphere was a nice one and was welcoming from the get-go. It's full of friendly people and people that you can ask questions to!
For me, the placement was set up pretty well as I pretty much always had work to perform and I always had someone to go with questions or someone to ask for work on the rare occasion that I didn't have anything. I always knew where I was supposed to me because communication tended to be pretty good.
They 100% invested in me. There was always opportunities for personal and business development and you can focus on particular areas that you think require extra work. PwC are all about continuous improvement of their staff which I really think is key and is very apparent in the workforce they have.

I would love to return to PwC in the future. I really felt like part of a team when working at the firm and I really think it would be fantastic for my future if I was considered for a place at PwC in the future. There seems to be a good chance of progression and it's generally a very appealing company to work for.
The Culture
There was lots of social events within the office organised internally, as well as sporting events with colleagues. It was a chance to mingle with other members of staff, get different view points and opinions and even just chat to different levels of authority. I also know they do a large night out once a year which would be good!
As stated, there was loads of opportunities to get involved with activities outwith the workplace. I went to office netball, and as far as I'm aware there was football and other sports, as well as a group that go out running around lunchtime. There is also out of work drinks regularly.
