The Role
I found the internship to be very diverse and educational, exposure to many different types of jobs allowed me to really see what assurance was like in PwC.
On every external audit job I attended I was given the chance to work alongside the team, helping them towards meeting a common goal, be that an interim or end of year audit. RAS availability work can be a bit more varied, personally I struggled to find work to do for the week I was timetabled to this. I would advise to actively seek out work to do for this time.
At all times, everyone is really supportive and helpful. I believe this trait is built into the core of PwC, everyone has been in the same position and experienced the same difficulties.
On an audit job, the majority of the times there is work to complete. Of course the experience of an internship at first is minimal, but you quickly gain it, which allows you to complete even more work in further weeks towards the end of the internship.
I found myself completing a lot of sampling tasks in the interim audits, which by the sounds of it from speaking to senior members, is very useful. I felt it made a massive contribution to the end of year audits that were going to take place. I was given the opportunity many times by the teams I worked with to liaise with the client and obtain needed information. I think the balance between allowing you to be responsible for the work you're producing but also helping you to complete it to a good standard is perfect.
This internship will help you in your degree studies and beyond massively. Not only does it look exceptional on your CV but you gain valuable insights into PwC and the financial services.
The Company
The offices are extremely modern, and many have been done up to be relative to the city/region there are in. The open office feel is great. Work is work and many people are concentrating and getting on with what needs to be done of course. Generally, from my experience they are some of the best office spaces available.
For me, I had work every week but one. Meaning I was able to experience 3 different audits, of which one I worked on for 2 weeks, due to being booked back onto it for my final week for doing good work. RAS availability I feel could maybe be improved slightly, but my knowledge of what it is and how it works is very limited. The introduction down in London was a great way to kick things off.
From speaking to employees in the firm it sounds like PwC invests massively in their people, they expect hard work and dedication back in return for this. Over the 6 weeks PwC tries to vary the experiences you have and I think this is important for future development. You also have the chance to take part in socials alongside with the full time employees.

Being able to complete the ACA to become a chartered accountant through PwC is excellent. The qualification is one of the most prestigious in the world and by the sounds of it once you finally become qualified the number of job offers you receive is unbelievable. I think it is a great starting ground for your career, as once you have completed this you can choose your future path depending on your preferences and abilities.
The Culture
For me being out on client site almost every week did mean I wasn't in the office as much as some of the other interns, and therefore wasn't able to socialise as much. Having to commute from a while away to also made going to social events harder. They did go out several times however so I'd say the social scene is good, social events for PwC were also held which you could attend.
I commuted from Sheffield to Leeds, the cost of the train if you book the day before and find a cheap train ticket is reasonable. City centres are always a bit more pricey so I found it useful to prepare your lunch in advance. In terms of the pay I think the cost was reasonable.
Nightlife in city offices are always great as there any many places to go out to, with a varied selection. I didn't have to the chance to go out and experience any of these but I already know that Leeds has one of the best nightlifes out of all cities through my friends.
Socials were held many times while I was on the internship, making a work related inbox/chat was useful. At the end of the internship a cricket social was held for the whole of audit to attend optionally. Drink tokens were supplied which are always welcome. If you want to get involved in something all you have to do is ask.
