The Role
I really enjoyed the experience working with PwC. They put me on interesting clients and gave me coaching frequently. The other colleagues are very welcoming and made an effort to include me in conversations. I now have an insight into the organisation which has helped so much with deciding on my career path.
Colleagues treated me as an equal and always invited me along to lunch. The office is a very friendly environment, where you can have a conversation with anyone. After working with all my clients, my seniors always thanked me for my help on the job.
I was encouraged to ask questions as much as possible. I wasn't judged for asking silly questions, and everyone in the office is more than happy to help if you are stuck on something. The coaching that I received was fantastic, everything was explained very well. All of my coaches were extremely approachable and friendly.
Reasonably busy. Some days there would be a lot of work to do and other days not so much. The summer period is not a busy period, so when I was not assigned to a job it was difficult to get assigned to another role. There were points where I needed to use my initiative and take on optional eLearns to keep myself busy. However when on a job, I always had a task to do.
I was treated as if I was an associate on most jobs. The coach would explain what they wanted me to do, and then would let me try to take on tasks independently. I had the opportunity to speak to clients and represent PwC. I managed to complete a few different engagements from scratch by the end of the internship.
My degree is in economics, so the skills I developed in the internship (accounting) will not transfer directly. However, it has made me more determined to get the best qualification I can at university. Everyone in the office is driven and motivated to be the best that they can be, which inspired me to do the same.
The Company
The atmosphere was really good in the office. People are friendly and welcoming. You will always be invited along to social events. Everyone is very chatty and will always encourage you to participate in conversation. There was also a relaxed vibe in the office, people didn't seem to let the stress of the job get to their mentality.
The internship is organised if you are on a client. You get clear instructions of what to do, and you can easily see your upcoming tasks on talentlink so that you can prepare for future clients. If you are not assigned to anything then it requires more organisation from you as you will need to find work for yourself to do.
The company invest a lot of money into your training. There is a 3 day residential induction which involved coaching/training and a lot of social events where you can get to know future colleagues. There was also a partner dinner where we got to chat with the partner at our local branch.
