The Role
I truly enjoyed every minute of working on the PwC summer internship programme. Throughout the programme, I would always look forward to coming into work. I got an experience of working within the variety of different areas, which enabled me to have a better understanding of the area I may wish to work in in the future. I felt like a valued member of the team throughout.
During my internship, I felt extremely valued by my team on each and every job I worked on. I was so pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and friendly all of the Glasgow PwC staff were. Despite being an intern, I felt that all of my work performed truly mattered which only pushed me to work harder and produce a greater quality of work. With how lovely everyone was in the Glasgow office, this has completely changed my perception of working for such a large corporate company.
The coaching within PwC as a whole and in the Glasgow office was fantastic. Every member of staff, at all levels, were extremely approachable and always willing to provide guidance and support which was so helpful. We were always encouraged to ask as many questions as necessary which were was very beneficial and all those providing the coaching were always extremely patient and encouraged further questions.
I was definitely kept busy during my time on the internship programme. I was lucky enough to be fully booked with jobs throughout my 6 weeks. Whenever I would finish my work for the day my supervisors were always quick to find me additional work which made time fly by! Also having online e-learning courses to complete also helped with keeping us interns busy.
I feel like I was given the appropriate level of responsibility for being an intern with no prior experience. It was very refreshing to be given tasks that would actually impact on-going audits and not solely perform general admin tasks, making myself feel useful and valued. The level of responsibility I was given made me feel valued and at the same time was not daunting or overwhelming, a perfect balance!
I would say I have massively improved my technical skills with regard to complex accounting software, excel and power point etc. I will definitely take such skills away with me which I know will be extremely useful in later life. With regard to my studies, my internship has truly opened my eyes to the varying business area's within assurance.
The Company
I was very apprehensive as this was my first experience working in an office, however despite everyone being extremely hard working the atmosphere was very relaxed which was really comforting! Everyone would get their heads down however would have the necessary fun which would make the days go by better and made them more enjoyable!
My work on the internship was organised extremely well. From our induction week in London to working on jobs within the office everything was organised to such a high standard. I was always kept busy and finding additional tasks were always given out by resourcing in an extremely efficient manner. This was extremely impressive given the large scale of the company and the numerous employee's working for the company.
PwC invested so much into myself and the other interns on the summer programme which truly made us feel valued by the company. We were fortunate enough to have a induction to the programme in Windsor at Beaumont House which was all paid for by the company. This investment emphasised that we were really valued by the company and only shown us of the great perks that are hopefully to come in the future!

The future employment prospects within PwC are extremely appealing. There are so many opportunities within the opportunity from mobility to manager/director etc, exploring different business areas and working in other offices in different countries. It is clear that there is so much you can do while working for the company as where you want your career to go is valued. I would love to be fortunate enough to have a career with PwC.
The Culture
The social committee within Glasgow PwC was not at all what I expected however was such a lovely surprise! There were various social events organised during my short period working for the firm, of which we always felt welcomed and was a great opportunity to integrate with people within the office. There was also various sport clubs which would be great to be a part of in the future!
I did not have to travel far to the Glasgow office during my internship as my commute was the same commute I am regularly on for going to university. As a result there was no great cost burden on myself. All of the social events planned were also not of a high cost which was great as I could take part in without the worry of the cost!
Being a 西瓜视频 in Glasgow I was already aware of how good the nightlife in Glasgow was. However, it was refreshing to see how involved the PwC office was with the nightlife through organising various social events, such as end of month drinks or promotion drinks, with plans to go to various clubs in Glasgow after.
There were various opportunities to get involved in activities outside of the Glasgow PwC office such as Netball. I was lucky enough to get to go to the social organiser's meeting and hear all of the exciting opportunities they were planning from a weekend hill walk, to a after work yoga class and an office masseuse. All of these social activities just made working for the office more appealing.
