    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed the whole of the internship and it went by so quickly! To start with you do 3 days training residential in a hotel with all the other interns over the country which was so much fun! When we got back to the office everyone was so nice and you are on client site a lot which is good experience. I was on a client in London so stayed in a hotel for a couple of nights and this was really fun, so you get to go out for dinner with the rest of the team and some nights I met up with friends i had in London! I also stayed over in Bognor Regis for a couple of nights.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • It surprised me how friendly and welcoming everyone was. On all the jobs I was on, I was valued by members of the team and not just seen as 'the intern' which was really nice. I was given a really good responsibility which showed how much I was valued by everyone.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone was so helpful which put me at ease! whenever I needed help with something anyone was happy to help. Usually on a Job there was someone the grade above me so they would kind of coach you and be there to answer any questions I had. Feel like the most importatnt thing is to ask questions if you're stuck because no one expects you to know everything!

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • On my first job I wasn't given that much stuff and when I did it was quie basic and finished it quickly so I don't think they really knew what to do with me. However on my other jobs I was busy and there was always something to do which was good because it can get boring sitting around trying to find stuff to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was actually given quite a lot of responsibility over the internship. For one of my jobs it was just me and another doing the audit. This meant that I was given tasks that would usually be done by more senior members of the team. I think as people realise you can do what it you get given more and more responsibilities.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • During the internship you have to work a lot on excel so this will be really useful for most financial based jobs if I chose to go into them after uni. As well as this, talking to a lot of senior people gave me a lot of confidence which I can take forward.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The Southampton office was really friendly! It was open plan and no one had specific desks which was nice. It was so relaxed and everyone was friendly with managers integrating within the office with everyone else. As it was so small it just had a really good vibe about it.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Yeah well organised, everything was set up well for us and easy to do. Think they are obviously used to having interns so everything is run smoothly and you never feel lost. Think from the get go you are guided through which is really helpful and ideal for an internship.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • During this internship I think a lot was invested in us, from the start during the training a lot of time was put into us and help. We had a people manager who often caught up with us to make develop and get feedback. Other than this there was a lot of on the job training.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I deffo want to stay at PwC **** HOWEVER I strongly advise people to apply for an internship in the office they want to take a grad scheme is. I took one in southampton as its close to home so meant i could live at home during the summer. But now I want to transfer to london and I can't stress how HARD it is to transfer. They try and put you off changing office so much and basically disregard all your positive feedback and make you start back at square one. So even though I have had such good feedback this is all going to mean nothing and I have to start again at an assessment centre with external people. So showing that the internship is now meaningless to them just because I want to change office but still stay at PwC. ***
