The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and gained a real insight as to the wonderful culture of PwC. Even though it was a steep learning curve as I had no prior experience, everyone, both interns and staff alike were very much willing to help. The projects I worked on were very varied and I was able to experience a holistic view of the firm and the role.
I felt that colleagues very much wanted to help as much they could in order to ensure that us interns had the best experience possible. My colleagues were all very friendly and helped us with any questions we had, and also invited us out to socials so that we could all get to know each other better.
Management was fantastic in guiding us through the internship, they helped us set our personal development objectives and advised us on how to fulfil them throughout the internship so that we got as much out of it as possible. Even though they were busy with other projects they were always willing to support us.
On a daily basis there were a few tasks to do regarding each project. As it was not a busy time for the firm, some people did not have tasks to do at given times, however it was always easy to find work to do by asking people around us.
I was given a lot of responsibility from the first week! I was testing controls for FTSE100 companies and helping to plan the controls and set them up. I was able to go to client sites and help in gathering evidence for testing. I also helped in organising social events for the department.
I learnt so much from the internship, not only about the firm and the role, but also about the industry in general. I now know more about how each department engages with clients and the different tasks that people have to undertake. I also learnt how to deal with multiple projects at the same time.
The Company
The office is very relaxed, as it has been reimagined recently. There are no more cubicles and people are free to sit wherever they want. There are spaces available to suit every type of business need. You could accidentally find yourself sitting next to a senior manager or even a director!
The firm took us on a three day residential on an estate at the start of the internship. There we learnt about our line of service and the roles in general. We also got free breakfast, lunch and dinner and a few drink tokens for the evening. In the offices we were also given additional training over a few days in order to learn more about the firm.

As an intern, you have a high chance of getting the job as long as you perform well and get the 2:1 requirement. Progression is as expected and in 3 years you will be a senior associate. As a senior assiociate you will be allowed to explore your interests further and go on secondments to learn more about different cultures, or try out other industries.
The Culture
Being in london, the cost of living is quite expensive but there are definitely ways around it. Staying with friends and family in the area will be best, as rent can go from 140-200 per week depending on the area. Making your own lunch is also a good idea as eating out everyday can be expensive.
