    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed my experience to an extent. All the people I worked with were very kind and it was a relaxed and friendly environment. A lot of times I was stuck for work to do, I had to seek out work a lot, and at times found myself doing nothing. This mean't I felt useless at times.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt valued by my colleagues to an extent. As said previously at times I had little work to do, I felt the jobs I was given were sometimes pointless and had no impact on the actual job as a whole. But then sometimes I did have important jobs with time frames and this made me feel valued

    3/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given lots of support and guidance over my internship. Everyone at the office was very friendly and I felt that I could ask anyone for help. The coaching was very professional and I learned a lot from my time. If you want to learn a lot of new things I would highly recommend.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Like I said previously my work days were really mixed. Somedays I would be scraping the barrel for work to do, and others I would comfortably have work for the whole day. I certainly never felt that I had too much work, I never had to stay late or pass on my work to someone else.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Once again this question was really mixed. Some days I would get a job with a certain amount of responsibility, this would usual come in conjecture with a time frame. However this was fairly rare, for the large part I would say my jobs were not that important, but rather given to me to keep me busy rather than because it needs to get done.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I certainly learned a lot about about the day-to-day workings of a various variety of businesses. Working with PwC allowed me to experience a lot of different companies. I also learned a lot about finance as a whole. I study physics so it wont help me with my studies, but will definitely help me beyond my degree.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere in the office was good. It was very happy and friendly. All the other colleagues were extremely helpful and were excellent coaches. The amount of people in the office changed a lot, sometimes there were lots, sometimes very little. This is because I worked over holiday season, and at PwC a lot of the time people are working at client sites.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • At the start it seemed very well organised. the induction was very good as we got a free trip down to Windsor and all the tutor classes were very informative. However, towards the end of the internship I felt slightly forgot about as the work for me rang dry and I struggled to find stuff to do.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company invested in me a lot. I came from a physics background and came into an accounting job. This would not have been possible if it wern't for all the coaching I received. We had lots of tutor classes at the start. And through out the whole time I received coaching from all the employees.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would say they are fairly appealing. For me I have to decide if accounting is for me, something that as of yet I am not too sure about. If you know that you want to work in finance and business then I would highly recommend it. I have yet to decide if I want to continue with PwC.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • There were 2 other interns in my office at the time I was working at PwC. For this it all depends on where you work. My office, in Aberdeen, is one of the smallest PwC offices, and thus it is quite quiet, so the social scene is quiet. If you were to work in London, Im sure it would be more lively.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Aberdeen can be quite expensive. I lived from home over my internship as I am form Aberdeen, thus I had no living costs. Commuting costs wernt too bad, our office is well placed so pricing for transport was very reasonable. If you were in London Im sure it would be more expensive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Aberdeen's nightlife isn't amazing, but that depends on who you are talking to. If you were gonna compare it to Glasgow or Edinburgh then yes it is poor. But it has a few good clubs and some nice traditional pubs. If nightlife is an important part of your consideration then I would not recommend Aberdeen.

    3/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There wern't a lot of stuff going on after work, if there were then I wasn't invited to them. they had no sports teams. We had an office outing to the Perth races one day which was good, but that was about it in the way of socail events in Aberdeen.
