    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The internship was really good towards the end: initially the office was quite quiet and as such I did not have a lot to do. The residential induction was very fun and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the rest of the interns. Overall, the internship was enjoyable but could have been busier.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very welcome in the team: everyone was friendly and took the time to ensure I was comfortable with any work that I was doing. There were regular opportunities to get to know everyone better and overall the office environment was friendly; people seemed to value what I had to contribute.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I frequently met my people manager to discuss progress, which was a great help and allowed me to set and work towards realistic objectives. I felt that they tried hard to allocate work to me and to ensure I was busy, and I appreciated the effort they made in that respect.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Towards the end of my six weeks I was really busy and frequently had lots to do. However at the start the office was quiet with a lot of people on holiday and correspondingly there was not a lot of work around for me to be involved with. It didn't

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I feel that I was infrequently given the opportunity to work independently on projects which were important. There were times when I undertook work which felt important, which was good, but a lot of the tasks I had to do were less significant and as such I felt the responsibility was lower.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I definitely learned a lot about how to network and my communication skills have improved by a large amount. In terms of line of service skills I probably have not developed in a significant way, but coming in from no knowledge of tax I definitely left knowing more than I did.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was good! Obviously when it was busy people were less willing to sit and chat, but there were frequent tea breaks and opportunities to engage with the rest of the team. The team itself was friendly and everyone was generally very positive and jovial, which was nice to be involved in.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The residential induction was seamless: the recruitment team made sure that all of the travel arrangements to and from London were sorted in advance and everything ran smoothly. In the office it initially felt like people had not realised I would be there and correspondingly did not have a lot of work that I could be involved with.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The residential induction, in which we had the chance to have dinner with partners and directors, was a fantastic networking opportunity and gave you the chance to become closer to the other interns. In the office people were very happy to sit down with you and chat about new ideas or concepts, which was appreciated.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Sports and Social Club

    National Travel

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • From the outset it is made clear that lots of the interns at PwC are offered graduate roles upon leaving university. At each stage you receive feedback and towards the end of your placement your people manager will indicate whether they will recommend you for a job offer or not (although no job offer is made at that point).

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The other interns and I frequently had lunch together and met up outside of the office for social events. This was definitely facilitated by the residential induction, which brought us closer as a group. There were lots of events on throughout the office during my placement as well, which were good to be involved in.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Glasgow is not a cheap city and commuting to and from work is expensive. Furthermore, the food is not cheap and so going out in the evenings can be pricey. Comparing the city to London however it is cheap as chips and the cost of an internship is probably not overly prohibitive.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Glasgow nightlife is good. There are lots of bars and restaurants around, catering to all tastes. The office is in a good location for going out after work and offers lots of opportunities for food. There are plenty of nightclubs in the city centre and cheap bars towards the top of the city.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were lots of social events on and plenty of opportunities to be involved with colleagues outside of the work place. It was definitely a social internship and there were lots of chances to be involved: events such as netball and promotion drinks ran whilst I was in the office.
