The Role
I really enjoyed the internship as I was given responsibility and a variety of different tasks from the offset. I was never stuck without anything to do and my colleagues went to extra effort to give me exposure to new jobs when possible.
Everyone that works at PwC cares about your experience and enjoyment as an intern and I even had partners asking about how my 6 weeks had been. It shows that everyone values you no matter how junior you are.
Even before we started I was put in contact with a buddy who was there to guide me. Once I started I was assigned a people manager and each in charge on the job answered any questions I had and took the time to help me out.
On my core assurance jobs I was always very busy and even did some work from home (although we didn't have to do this). Risk assurance was less busy as a lot of the jobs required more technical knowledge but my team always tried to find me stuff to keep me busy.
I was given lots of responsibility, including communicating directly with clients on a daily basis and preparing my own work and evidence. If you ask for a job that you think you can deliver to a high standard, chances are they will let you have a go as they put trust in you to do your work well.
It has definitely given me experience of a real working environment which will be invaluable for the future. It has also improved my excel, communication and organisation skills so whilst the internship isn't directly related to my degree, the amount of personal responsibility I have gained will really help me out for the rest of uni.
The Company
The office is brand new and designed to be a really social space. Everyone says hi and stops for a chat, it's the sort of place that makes you want to come to work.
I've never experienced any problems with PwC's organisation, my schedule was already set up with all my jobs before I arrived and any queries or admin (like having expenses approved) are completed almost immediately. The internship was designed to give us a variety of tasks but also a good amount of time on each job in order to get value out of it.
We were given in-depth LoS specific training at the induction and each supplied with our own laptop. The induction (at a hotel) supplied us with food, drink and activities for 3 days so it felt as if no expense had been spared in our introduction and development.

西瓜视频 out at some point in the next few days but if I am lucky enough to be offered a job then I would definitely accept the offer. Over the 6 weeks I have found that PwC is really somewhere I would like to return after university.
The Culture
The interns met up a few times during the placement but it could be difficult at times as many of us were out of the office most days. The most social time we had was at the away day where everyone from partners to interns socialised together and did a team building activities, I got to know the other interns really well then.
Luckily I already live in Manchester so I didn't have to pay for accomodation but going out for drinks and travelling to work etc isn't too expensive. Granted it could be cheaper however compared to some of the more Southern offices the cost of things is relatively affordable.
Manchester has really good nightlife, from an array of bars to loads of clubs. There is a bar (20 Stories) at the top of the office building which is, although a bit pricey, really pretty with great views of Manchester.
You can get involved with as many things as you ask for. I got involved with some charity work whilst I was there and we also did activities like the away day. Speaking to colleagues, many of them were part of sports teams for work too. This is only made a bit difficult if you are out of office a lot and can't predict your working hours as well.
