    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The second week was my favourite week out of the two weeks as it gave a real insight into school life in some of the Teach First schools. We also got the chance to talk to some of the teachers that were doing the LDP which was a really useful experience.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued during my time on the programme, with them frequently speaking about the difference that we individually could make. It was a very welcoming atmosphere and everyone was really friendly and easy to talk to. They also had their partners come in and speak to us about the difference we could make in their companies too.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • The first week was really informative with setting us up for what to expect in the second week. The first week did contain a lot of time reflecting on what we had learnt in the sessions which meant it became quite repetitive but it did prepare us for the second week. You also receive a coaching call from your recruiter in the second week.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The 2 weeks was spent developing our competencies. We identified where are weakest areas were and were able to develop these areas over the 2 weeks. These skills such as interaction and leadership will help me in future life as they are fundamental, along with other competencies, to being successful.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • There was a clear structure to the programme, with the first week being preparation for the time in the school in the second week. However, the information that we received about details of accommodation, schools, timings etc. was given very late which didn't help with personal travel arrangements and planning.

    3/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was very friendly throughout the 2 weeks, and was very informative. The days were long which was tiring but they made the most out of the time they had. The days in the first week did drag on a bit, but the second week experience certainly made up for this.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The programme was an opportunity to develop yourself and your own competencies, and gave you the opportunity to have a try insight into life at a school, whilst also being paid for the 2 weeks. You were also given a large range of resources and information with the central focus being the difference we individually could make.

    5/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • We got the chance to speak to participants that had completed the LDP along with those that were in the process of completing it. This gave a true insight into their experiences and what to expect if we were to go on to complete the LDP. We also got the chance to speak to teachers at the school.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • 5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • With not definitely knowing whether teaching was a career path for me, this programme enabled me to explore this in depth. From the programme I was able to experience some time in one of their schools which enabled me to understand the role of a teacher in these schools and has led me to want to pursue a career in teaching.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We weer paid 拢500 for the 2 weeks, with accommodation being provided as well along with breakfast in the 1st week. The second week many places provided breakfast as well. Travel expenses were not covered, however the 拢500 was meant to go towards covering the cost of travel to and from the locations.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • We had many talks in the first week from partners along with on the final day assessment where there was an opportunities fair. These times allowed us to see what other options there were if we decided we didn't want to go into teaching but still push teach first's vision.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • 3/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 3/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I thought insight was the perfect programme for those that are thinking about teaching but want a little bit more information about the possibilities that exist. The week in the school gave the best indicator as to what life would be like as a teacher in these types of schools.
