About You
I very much enjoyed this experience within the legal department at PwC and this vacation scheme provided the opportunity to experience commercial law within a fast paced and exciting environment. Every person that I had the opportunity to work with was extremely friendly and welcoming, making this a very enjoyable experience overall.
Throughout my time spent with the PwC Legal Team, I was made to feel very well valued. I rotated across three different teams during my time on the vacation scheme and each team went out of their way to make me feel welcomed and treated me as a valued member of the team.
There was a really great system of support in place at PwC and I was provided with a buddy on my first day, which I really appreciated. My buddy was of great support to me throughout my time on the vacation scheme, as I felt that I could ask her the 'silly' questions I did not want to ask my supervisor. Similarly, my supervisor was very supportive and provided me with great career guidance.
The skills, knowledge and information that I gained whilst on this vacation scheme will absolutely benefit me in both my degree studies and beyond that. The legal knowledge that I developed will be beneficial in my final year of university. Furthermore, I developed a number of transferable skills, such as networking, communication and presentation skills, which will be beneficial in the future.
The Company
I found the vacation scheme to be well structured. On the first day, we had a number of introductory talks, where we were provided with a timetable of upcoming activities, as well as a detailed information booklet, outlining the vacation scheme. During my time on the vacation scheme, I spent time in three different departments, ensuring I received a varied and comprehensive experience.
There was a really great general atmosphere at PwC. All staff and employees went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable experience and I found everyone to be extremely friendly, which instantly put me at ease. I formed a close bond with the other vacation scheme participants, which also added to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
I really felt that PwC invested a great deal into our personal development and training during our time on the vacation scheme. My team was very focused on my personal development and provided comprehensive feedback on all of the work that I was completing. Furthermore, all of the sessions and activities were aimed at our personal development, ensuring we developed the skills needed to succeed as a commercial lawyer.
This vacation scheme provided me with a really great insight into what it would be like to have a full time role at PwC. The work I was given was similar to the work that a trainee lawyer may complete and therefore I got a great insight into the kind of tasks I would be completing on a day to day basis. Furthermore, the networking sessions provided the opportunity to talk to employees about the daily life at the firm.
There were many opportunities to talk to staff working at different levels of the firm. A networking session with partners was arranged, and we had several events with the trainees. This level of exposure to different employees meant that I gain a real flavour of the firm's culture and could appreciate the PwC work ethos.
I found that the content of the vacation was very useful in helping me to decide on my future career path. The opportunity to complete 'real' legal tasks and work was invaluable, allowing me to decide whether this career path really is for me. The vacation scheme confirmed my desire to pursue a career in commercial law and moreover, at PwC.
Everything Else
I was paid well for the time that I spent working at PwC.
There were plenty of opportunities for networking whilst on this vacation scheme at PwC. I had the opportunity to network with junior employees and trainee lawyers, right through to senior and managing partners, which was an amazing opportunity! In each of the departments that I spent time in, I found everybody very approachable so I also had plenty of informal networking opportunities.
I found the networking and social events to be very pleasant.
There are lots of different opportunities for PwC employees outside of work. These include sport teams and volunteering opportunities.
Yes! This was a really enjoyable vacation scheme and I would absolutely recommend!
