    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The other employees were great and the program was well planned out, this made for an enjoyable experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • We were given a lot of independence to carry out tasks such as networking and group projects so you feel included as soon as you arrive.

    5/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • A lot of emphasis was on networking so you are given the tools to do this, however, this is as much guidance you get with respect to this.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They were very useful and have even been skills I have mentioned when applying to other internships to highlight just how much we learnt.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Before arriving there was little information as to what exactly we would be doing however once we arrived we were given an itinerary which was well planned out for the 10 days.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Everyone you met always had good things to say about their team, other employees and the culture of Goldman in general and this made for a very enjoyable atmosphere.

    5/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The scheduled training sessions did not seem to prove as useful as the more hands on training experiences at the desks from other members of the team informally guiding you with any queries you may have. Overall, a lot of time was spent by the firm investing in us to develop our skills and allow us to add value during our internship with both technical and non-technical skills.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • A lot of emphasis was put on exposure to members of your own team and other teams to gain and understanding of what their role is in the firm and their day to day work so that you can shadow/ have a better view of what you would do if you had the same role which was beneficial.

    3/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Being immersed in the work that you are expected to complete from the very first week allowed you to be in contact with the people and general culture of the firm often so that a good understanding can be made of what working here would entail which was enhanced by talks by the leadership forum with an opportunity to ask them questions too.

    4/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • With the ability to see the work that other teams do, even if you felt you may be better suited in another team or division, the ability to explore this, and the GS culture in general allows you to easily determine if you would continue building a career here or at least determine what else you might do in the future if not this.

    4/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • We were paid more than sufficiently at the end of the months that we were here, to cover the costs of having to relocate to another city (London) that is in general quite expensive for most and so working here did not put a strain on our financial situation or ability to move and not have to commute.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes there was more than enough activities and socials scheduled by HR to allow us to regularly be in contact with other interns, team members and senior leaders and have time to network with them with the opportunity to then schedule our own catchups with them if needs be so this was very beneficial.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • There was an abundance of these during the first few weeks of the internship, however, the frequency of scheduled events decreased after this and so it was reliant on us to then continue to network and organise social events after this. Although, some of the events were talks from other members of GS and so the ability to actually socialise with the other interns was limited here.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes we were made aware of sports teams, affinity networks at the firm and could then register to these mailing lists in order to find out about the activities we could attend in our time without these having been made mandatory to attend. Regular emails reminded us of these too.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes, it is well planned out and most definitely allows you to determine whether it is the place for you with the opportunity to also explore what areas of the firm might be best suited to you. From an insight standpoint, the internship is very insightful and doesn't leave to confused as to your view on wanting to start a career here.
