About You
- Very enjoyable programme. - Lots of fantastic opportunities to gain an insight into investment banking and Goldman Sachs. - Daily senior speaker speeches / divisional spotlights which gave us a unique insight into life at Goldman Sachs and broadened understanding of investment banking. - Challenging but rewarding case studies, giving us an opportunity to work alongside really interesting, talented and passionate Spring Interns. Fantastic, collegiate atmosphere.
- You feel valued from Day 1. - We were given individual GS emails, security passes, access to on-site gym and much more, just as any other GS employee would do. - Employees of all level of seniority were happy to speak with us, regardless of the fact that we would only be with the firm for just two weeks.
- Level of support was outstanding. - Vendor-led training levelled out the playing field for the entire intake, providing a solid foundation to accounting/valuation fundamentals. - HCM organised time slots for Analysts to drop by to assist us with case studies which was extremely useful. - HCM representatives were always around in case we had any questions about the programme, and were really friendly and helpful. - We were given feedback half way into the programme, so that we know what areas we need to work on.
- Over the course of the programme, I was able to hone in on my numerical and problem solving abilities. The challenging case studies we worked on pushed me out of my comfort zone, and allowed me to challenge myself further. - Time management was another skill I was able to enhance. We are given free time to use as we see fit. We had to balance our personal priories (networking, etc.) with case study/daily debate commitments. This was really useful, and is something that I can apply to my uni studies going forward.
The Company
- The programme followed a great structure. - We heard from senior speakers on their time and experience at Goldman Sachs which was very interesting. - We heard from representatives of different divisions within IBD through 'Divisional Spotlight' sessions which opened my eyes to divisions I never considered previously. - We had an excellent vendor-led financial training session over the first week which was immensely useful, and evened out the playing field between finance and non-finance 西瓜视频s. - We were given free time to either work on case studies, prepare for daily debates and to network with GS employees which served as a useful introduction to time and expectation management. - By the end of the programme, you would look back amazed at the amount of things you learned and experienced over the two weeks at GS.
- Fantastic atmosphere overall. - Fellow Spring Interns were absolutely amazing, it was a great pleasure to work alongside such brilliant minds on the case studies / daily debates. Team dynamics were very collegiate, interns helped and supported each other. - Full-time GS employees were fantastic too. I am extremely thankful for the time they have taken out of their diaries to speak to me, and share their insights into banking and life at GS.
- Goldman Sachs clearly invested a lot of time, effort and money into the Spring Programme. - We had a professional vendor-led training session to cover accounting/valuation fundamentals which was absolutely fantastic. It was very engaging, interactive, and made otherwise complex concepts straight-forward. - We were given a finance handbook that we could take home, which was really useful. - Half-way into the programme we had a feedback session with HCM representatives, to discuss performance over the past week and highlight any areas for development. It was clear that HCM wanted us to develop over the course of the programme.
- Insight programme was immensely useful in helpin us understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company. - We heard from senior speakers who shared their experiences at Goldman Sachs, most of them started out at GS as well. 西瓜视频ing out what made them stay so long, and how they managed to grow within the firm was really interesting. - We were also given free time, which we could use to network with full-time GS employees. This was really insightful as you can reach out to employees of all levels of seniority and gain insights into the firm from them. - We also heard from representatives of various divisions through 'Divisional Spotlight' sessions where we found out more about particular areas of the GS' IBD.
- One of the biggest takeaways from the Spring Programme is the insight into Goldman's culture. - Through the senior speaker speeches, and the networking opportunities, we managed to find out a lot about the corporate culture at Goldman Sachs. - The insight programme gave us a platform to broaden our professional networks, which allowed us to hear from GS employees who have been working at the firm and have experienced the culture first-hand.
- Content was extremely useful. - In the first week we covered accounting/valuation fundamentals during a vendor-led training session. This allowed us to gain an insight into what an Investment Banking Analyst would do on a day-to-day basis. The interactive nature of the training also allowed us to see whether this is something we would enjoy or not. - We were also given free time to network with GS employees who openly spoke about their experience at Goldman Sachs which served as a great way to find out whether this is a career path for you or not. - HCM team also organised networking sessions with representatives from various divisions which allowed us to hear from employees who have first-hand experience working in a particular division, and see whether this is something that appeals to us.
Everything Else
- GS is one of the few firms that pays Spring Interns. - Pay was very generous. - Students from overseas / outside London were placed in hotels close to the office. Their travel costs were also reimbursed.
- There were ample opportunities for networking and meeting other employees. This is definitely one of the biggest strengths of the programme. - We were given Free Time to schedule networking coffee catch-ups with full-time GS employees. - HCM organised divisional networking sessions to help us gain an insight into particular divisions at GS. - HCM also organised a round tables where we got to speak to numerous MD's from a variety of different divisions.
- Networking opportunities were fantastic.
- Yes, over the first few days, during the firmwide orientation we heard from a variety of different speakers on the opportunities that are available to GS employees. - We were given a background to some of the ESG initiatives open to GS employees and how to get involved with those activities. - We were also given access to fitness classes at Goldman's onsite gym.
- Absolutely. This is by far the best Spring Programme around.
