About You
Overall, the insight programme is quite enjoyable . We get to attend word shadowing, different kind of workshop as well as doing a group project. I feel that working on the group project enhance my understanding of the Goldman Sachs Technology much more. And working in a team setting taught me many valuable skills.
There are many different kind of support that is available during my time as spring intern at Goldman Sachs. First, each intern have a buddy who is an analyst of the firm. And you could regularly schedule meeting with him/her. Besides, you also get many people who you can reach out for help. HCM team will also help you when necessary.
I learnt how to work effectively in a team setting as well as how to communicate more effectively. As an international 西瓜视频, before the internship, I don't really get much chance to collaborate with many foreigners. And by this spring internship program, I got to learn this valuable skills. Also, learning how to pick up other people's brain is also a very useful skill while working.
The Company
Contrary to my expectation, the atmosphere within Goldman Sachs is actually very friendly. Most of the employee there seems quite happy and they are very willing to help you and explain things to you. The atmosphere is also diverse, people from different countries, background get to work together in team efficiently.
Goldman Sachs runs Python workshop, hackrank workshop and various form of work shadowing session to improve our technical acumen as well as the the understanding of the business. Additionally, you could ask seek to meet other analyst to learn more about the specific topic that you are interested in. It's great!
We got many chances to talk to the current employees, and they quite openly share what their life look like at the firm. We also have the chance to have breakfast with a managing director within the firm, and he also share his story. So I think after the spring program, we have a much clearer understanding of what it would be like to have a full time role.
It helps a lot! As previously mentioned, we got many chances to talk to current employee. They share their experience working in the firm. We also get many opportunities to network with people so we could get more insight on the company culture. It helps a lot on my understanding of the culture.
Everything Else
Goldman basically reimburse your travel fee if you are outside of London. They also pay for your hotel, and I think it is a 4 star hotel. You also get paid, if I remember currently it's 80 pound per day, and you work 9 days there, so you get 720 pound.
There are many different kind of networking and social events. On the first day, you have event with all the interns where you could get to know you fellow peers. And then you will have opportunities to have breakfast with a managing director. And you could also schedule meeting the people that you want to meet. Usually, they are all quite willing to meet you.
They are many activities that employee can get involve with. There are various kind of affinity group within the firm. For example, black engineer group, asian engineer group, etc. Also, the firm has its own gym, and you can sign up for the gym session during your internship, they are also many restaurants and bars near the office.
Yes. It's a great experience. You get to learn a lot about the firm. You also get to make friends from many of the top universities: Cambridge, Oxford, etc. You also get the chance to know many people within the firm. You also get paid and learn more about the industry.
