About You
It was amazing - I managed to learn so much in a relatively short amount of time - through business spotlights, networking events, group exercises, stock pitches - I managed to take something from every session, and so over the 2 weeks I developed in so many areas and I am really grateful to have been given the opportunity.
I felt extremely valued by the company. Everyone was extremely welcoming and accommodating no matter what their role was in the company, including HCM, analysts, associates, VPs, MDs and PMDs. I managed to connect on more than one occasion with so many people, all of whom were always willing to help me and give me advice.
I always felt I had someone to approach in every area. HCM were extremely helpful with logistics advice, analysts who were previous interns were always willing to help me, MDs and PMDs were always willing to help me and give me advice, so I received great guidance all throughout the programme.
The programme didn't relate to assisting me with my degree, but considering I would like to work in the financial services industry, beyond my degree, it was invaluable. I now recognise what is required to succeed in the industry, and can take so much of what I learnt with me throughout my career.
The Company
It was extremely well structured. We had many sessions throughout the 2 weeks, and in our free time, there was always opportunities to talk to people within the company, and so there was no point where we didn't have anything to do, and HCM did a great job in structuring the programme.
It was really enjoyable. Among the other interns, everyone was competitive, but at the same time everyone wanted everyone else to do well, and I really got a sense of inclusion, everyone respected to each other, and I made some great friends both among the interns and in the company.
A huge amount! They worked so hard to make sure we got exposure to so many areas within our division, and made sure that we had the opportunity to network with people of all different seniority levels, and put in so much time and effort to ensure that we got the most out of the programme.
I definitely managed to see what it would be like to work at the company full time. We spent most of our time on desks and trading floors, so in terms of understanding what happens as a full time member of the company, I definitely now understand what it is like.
It was a great opportunity to demystify any misconceptions that people had from people who have never worked at the company before. The culture is very pleasant, because the company is full of driven, helpful people who are proud to work for the company, and so everyone wants the best for each other.
It confirmed what I already thought I wanted to do for my career. It allowed me to experience first hand what it would be like to have a career at the company, and so I now know that I want to return to company and have a career here in this division.
Everything Else
We were paid very well.
Countless opportunities to meet people of all different seniority levels and of all different areas within the division. We were able to network with people whenever we wanted outside of our set programme schedule, and I have built connections that will last way beyond the programme, which I am extremely grateful for.
They were great, because not only was there a pleasant atmosphere with everyone being friendly and wanting to help each other, but we learnt from every single event.
Absolutely. We found about about all the philanthropical activities and projects that the company gets involved in, as well as the physical activities that you can do
If you are driven and willing to learn and challenge yourself, the programme is extremely rewarding. It is a great opportunity to learn and network with people, and so I would 100% recommend it.
