About You
An amazing experience having an overview of the business, and my chosen division. However, I would've liked more technical insight into what a day of work would be like.
I felt reasonably valued as I had the chance to meet with partners of the company, and people at the top of their professions.
Having a designated buddy, I was able to ask questions whenever necessary.
An amazing insight into how technology functions with in an investment bank. Therefore I have ideas of which subdivision of technology I would like to join in future.
The Company
Very structured, and very full. There was timetable events everyday, with spare to network or work on a group project.
The atmosphere was amazing, people were generally happy to provide assistance. However, being assigned to the technology division I felt as I more of the content wasn't targeted at us.
Several training sessions, from python training to interview skills workshops.
Being only a spring week, I was unable to actually take on a real project. However, meeting with several people working within the division I built a picture of what it would be like.
Having met with people not only in my chosen division, but the wider business areas I understood how GS functions culturally.
Very insightful, I had the opportunity to shadow different professionals within my chosen division which also provided me with the opportunity to ask questions.
Everything Else
I was paid for my time, in addition I was reimbursed travel and had my accommodation paid for.
Yes, I assigned a personal buddy. In addition, I had the opportunity to have breakfast with a senior executive.
There was one dedicated social event in the first week, but and actual evening event designated for all interns would have been preferred. As I would provide a real chance to get to know people interning in other divisions. Perhaps on the first Friday night.
Yes from the various networks: LGBQT, Black, Female and others.
Yes, it's a great foundation for anyone considering a career in the financial services.
