About You
Very valuable insight to the finance industry. Some times there was a bit of time pressure or last minute changes but I felt this is unavoidable in a firm that has global influences. All of the staff involved have been incredibly welcoming throughout my time here and I would recommend the experience to a friend.
Everyone at GS is incredibly friendly, encouraging and engaging. Whenever I needed something explaining or clarifying, any employee was always happy to step in and help. Staff at all levels were more than happy to answer my questions and offer their insight. I have so much more to think about looking forward to my career; for which i am grateful for.
The buddy aspect was invaluable. Mine was so helpful in settling me in, providing any support and offering links to other contacts throughout the firm. The support from HR during my time was great, there were more than accommodating of other requirements and were available to contact throughout the entire day.
There has been lots of information to digest. All of it has been useful in showing me the wide variety of work performed at an Investment Bank and should lead me to a career that best suits me.y presentation and interview skills were particularly improved through useful workshops and talks.
The Company
Very well structured with enough free time to network and work on projects. Some of events were late starting but felt that due to the nature of the environment, that this was unavoidable. All of the support before the internship started was amazing too and very helpful for someone like me.
The atmosphere at the firm was intense, engaging but also friendly. As i said earlier, everyone is more than willing to offer their insights, tips and experiences. The wide range of events added to this, I really hope that one day I can work in an environment as dynamic as this one.
They offered a wide range of presentation that catered to a variety of skills. I have felt that my knowledge of the industry, my presentation skills and communication skill have all greatly improved during my time so far. Some more smaller workshops would have been greatly appreciated but this might have been asking too much.
The two weeks have covered a wide range of the roles involved at the firm. Everyone has been supportive of any question that I may have on different teams to work in. I feel that I have more than information to make an informed decision about where I end up working in a few years time.
The company's culture is unique. I really have enjoyed my time here and as I said earlier, would love to work in an environment like this one day. The insight showed us the value that the company puts on learning and being willing to learn; something that I feel is really important to a successful career.
All of the content has been extremely invaluable in helping me decide on my future career path. The culture of the firm has been a big factor in this/ All of the support and guidance has lead me to make informed decisions about my future career and I am looking forward to what lies ahead.
Everything Else
The pay was more than enough to cover my time here. It meant a great deal to someone like me who may not have been able to afford 2 week hotel accommodation and food in central London. It has meant I can afford suitable work outfits and again I am grateful for this.
There have been plenty of opportunities to network whilst at the firm. We had been left looks of free time to work on projects and were more than able to use some of this time to reach out and network. Everyone at the firm has been so welcoming and there were all more than happy to do this.
There haven't been many social event opportunities. Again I feel that this is partly due to the nature of the firm but I guess more could have been done in the evenings. Personally I didn't mind the lack of social events as the firm left us amble free time to network during.
We have heard from former Olympians, professional footballers and more about how they balance their personal work/life culture. To me, the firm obviously has lots of work to be done but does also support a healthy work life balance. There are many firm specific teams like cricket and football that I could see myself be a part of.
I would fully recommend this insight to a friend. As someone with a non finance background, the insight I have gain during my time here has been invaluable in showing my the options available to me as a future career. Everyone at the firm has been engaging and supportive and for these reasons I would recommend the internship.
